Just had Kenalog Protocol

Hi,

I’ve just had Dr. Feingold’s Kenalog Protocol in New York. I’ve suffered with a fissure for a year and half and tried dilizatem and nifidipine ointment. I eventually developed an allergic reaction to the diltiazem so kept on the nifidipine for about 8 months. It provided a little relief but didn’t heal the fissure. My colorectal surgeon in Toronto eventually offered the LIS surgery as he said it was unlikely to heal after such a long time. I was very hesitant to do that surgery as I’ve read about possible complications and being in my early 30’s I didn’t want to risk it. I researched and found the Kenalog procedure. Where the fissure is cleaned out, cauterized and injected with kenalog steroid. No cutting of muscle so not worry about being incontenet. The only doctor to do it is Dr. Feingold who invented this alternative to LIS in New York City.

I contacted the hospital that he works at and got my colorectal surgeon in Toronto to provide me with all my documentation regarding my condition.  I sent it to the hospital via global services and after a fairly long process (4 months) I got word that Dr Feingold was willing to take my case. I flew to New York and had the procedure done yesterday. So far I’m in very little pain and am optimistic that the procedure will be a success. I’ll update throughout my recovery and am happy to answer any questions for those that may be interested this procedure.

Hi Jessica, did you try botox injections before getting the kenalog protocol done?? I've had a fissure for about 8 months and I've tried 2 different types of creams. Neither fixed it, just help with symptoms and possibly help prevent it from getting worse. My doctor is now recommending botox injections. Did you try these or were these ever recommended to you? I'm hesitant to go to the kenalog procedure as my next step since it involves cauterizing the wound (also I have a skin tag and I'm worried about the possiblity of incontinence if Dr Feingold would want to cut it). hoping to find out how effective botox is to help decide if I should try that first or go straight to the kenalog procedure before the fissure gets any worse.

      hi,

i have had a fissure for a year ( 15 months) . tried all the creams didn't work. recently had botox , but hasn't healed it yet. more likely be going for another round of botox .

do you know what caused your fissure?

are you taking stool softeners ? eating a special diet?

Hi Nicole, I'm using metamucil and trying to eat as much fruit and vegetables as I can. Also trying to stay away from candy and junk food which typically contains little fiber.

No idea what caused it. All I know is I want to get it fixed as soon as possible. Tired of living with pain and anxiety.

Do you just have one fissure or more than one? And do you feel as though the first botox helped a bit? Do you think the second round of botox will bring you significantly closer to healing completely?

Hi - did you have to pay for this procedure? Did OHIP cover? I'm in Ontario and I'm in my mid-30s. I've suffered with one for 15 years that has now become so painful. Diltiazem is not working. How do I get in touch with them?

i had to pay for purchase of botox.

      250$ in Ontario.

didn't help much. Went for LIS surgery.

      take care

    Hi, can anyone help?

I am 22 and from the UK. I have an anal fissure that will not heal via home remedies or diltiazem cream. I am looking at surgery.

I do not want LiS surgery due to the possible complications, and so I am very interested in the Kenalog protocol. Unfortunately, I dont think it is offered in the Uk.

My question is has anyone from the Uk had this procedure and if not how would I go about getting this treatment in the US?

Dr. Feingold is an excellent Colorectal surgeon. He did my surgery 3/14/2019. He is up front and honest about care after the procedure. I hope you will be able to travel here to finally deal with AF.

hi whissler, what is the procedure exactly?

rhhCan you tell me how you are doing since your procedure ? Did you have it in NewYork? I have a fissure, plus skin tag,and hemmorhoid the exterior of my Anus. I was told I could face incontinence with the surgery and/or botox . I could not live like that. Nothing has been mentioned about cutting either of the other 2 things off.

Now I hear Dr. Feingold is no longer in New York. Someone posted a number but no Hospital name. Maybe he is in New Jersey. What happened??? Is he still practicing? If Dr. Feingold has been doing this miracle procedure since 2004 why hasn't it been shared and taught in other hospitals so the rest of us can receive this miracle? I can't find anything but references to New York.

Is there really a working number, is Sr. Feingold still doing the procedure? Is anyone el se doing it? I need this procedure. I can't live with this pain much longer.

Where can I get the help I need??? I was so excited when I read about his treatment and now I am losing hope.

I am going to try an attach a photo. In case any one knows what the 2 things are in it.

Thanks for any help at all....Eileen Desperate in MI USA

Do you have any other info than the phone number? What Hospital is Dr. Feingold at? Why hasn't he taught anyone else to preform his procedure. It makes the most sense. I don't understand. I can't find anything on him online except that he is in New York. Haven't heard anyone report they have had his procedure in months. I can't risk becoming incontinent but I can't bear this pain much longer.

Is this a skin tag and hemorrhoid? Do you think if they are removed I would have a risk of becoming incontinent? That's IF I could find Dr. Fiengold and he would be willing to help me? Has any here had his procedure done with growths like these, had them removed and avoided becoming incontinent???

thanks for any and all help....Eileen

Hi daz, the procedure was the Kenalog Protocol by doctor Feingold. involved Removing skin tags, seeing if any Fistula was present and cauterizing the Anal fissures in my case 2 deep ones and injecting Kenalog which is a steroid to help the healing process. I hope that answers your question.
