JUST HAD VIVITY LENS IMPLANTED 3 WEEKS

Hi,
I had Vivity implanted in my non-dominant eye 3 weeks ago. I have good distance vision as expected, I have good mid-range vision (to type on my Mac Air) but my near vision (to see my smartphone and read a book or textbooks) is blurry. I am disappointed. I have read that my near vision could still improve with time. I would love to know if anyone has heard this as well. As far as any halos at night, I don't notice them, but my cataract was so bad with such bad halos that anything would seem like an improvement. I also have a cataract in my dominant eye, so any slight halos I see could be due to that as well. I am noticing a slight waviness in my peripheral vision, but this could just be the natural healing process. At the one month mark, I have the appt with dialation where I will see how I'm healing. I hope I haven't wasted nearly $3k.
I really don't understand how my brother had multifocals implanted 10 years ago and he can see well without glasses at both near and far distances, but I get the latest technology and am stuck in readers.
I would love to have any feedback on anyone else's experiences. I contacted the FDA to see if I could get more long-term stats but they have not responded.

So after 10 months you still don’t have close-up vision? I actually just got the Vivity lens put in one of my eyes after I had retina detachment surgery. I just had it put in yesterday October 19, 2021. So of course I’m still at the beginning stages but I feel the same way I can see far away I can’t even see intermediate or close up. why do drs say it can do what it cant?!?!

I had Vivity lens implanted in right dominant eye one month ago. I have 20/20 distance vision, and very good intermediate and close up after surgery. I can read my Iphone and other small print. Still utilize a contact in left eye as cataract surgery not needed yet. Very pleased with results.

I'm curious how's your night vision ?
Are you enjoying the Christmas lights, especially the blue ones ?
How are halos for you?
Thanks,
Nelu

so far no halos. Night vision seems same as before surgery. It gets pitch black at 5:15 and I cook a lot at night. I read ebooks on my Iphone mini no problems. We only have white Christmas lights and they look good no halos. I have been wearing glasses and contacts since 5th grade. And my cataract was so bad it looked like I was seeing through vaseline. To not need glasses or contact lens in my right eye is amazing to me. I still wear a contact lens in left eye and will do so until i need cataract surgery which could be another 5 or 10 years.

Can those of you with Vivity lenses indicate the quality of your closeup vision? Are you able to apply makeup without glasses? Has anyone on this forum had a Pan Optix lens implanted? How bad are your halos? My doctor is suggesting a Pan Optiz lens for the non-dominant eye and 2 weeks later a Vivity lens for the dominant eye. He thinks my brain will get used to the halos and that I will be able to read without glasses. I don't do a great deal of night driving but I read. How does this "mix and match" work for you?
Any advice is appreciated.

I have Vivity lenses in both eyes and I constantly score 20/20 with my right eye 20/25 or 20/30 with my left eye using the Verana Vision Test IOS app on my iPhone 11 Pro.
When light is good I score 20/20 with my left eye as well, for near (smartphone distance).

Can you read a book without using glasses?

It all depends on the light.
Using incandescent light bulbs, in normal evening indoor lighting although I can read a book without glasses, it's more comfortable to use the weakest readers I could find at Rexall, +1D.
In normal daylight, reading without glasses is not a problem.

On 25.03.2020 I got the Vivity implanted in the left eye with the femto laser. Target emmotropy. Visual acuity afterwards: Remote (6meters) 100%, intermediate (70 centimeters) 125%, Near (40 centimeters) 40%
My personal impression: Good light is almost everything. In good light, good contrast, for example, reading from the tablet Black font on a white background starts at 25-30 centimeters. Fonts with lower contrast, such as newsprint, are hardly legible in low light, even in the intermediate area.
I don't have any glare, apparitions, halos at all.
Conclusion: Vivity is very good with good illumination. Close to far. Weak in low light. Driving a car is not a problem for me. But dark objects in dark areas or dark writing in dim light is hardly recognizable.

Hi everyone. I am surfing the net to get feedback from others with this implant as I had the procedure done to both eyes 3 and 2 weeks ago respectively. I am 54 and started wearing glasses full time 5 years ago - I had eagle vision up to that point. I could not adjust to wearing glasses and my prescription was changing annually or more. I found progressive lenses could not give me the range I needed (almost no correction for distant but up to +2.50 for reading. I had to bring reading glasses everywhere in addition to progressives. And, with my job, it was even more frustrating. So naturally it was a no brainer to have the procedure. I spent about $10,000 so I was serious about getting results.
My results seem the opposite to yours, Gayle. for the first time in 5 years I can read my phone without glasses. A cheap pair of readers makes it even better but I can get by. My vision deteriorates beyond say 10 feet. Distant vision is a complete blurr and at night, I am not even safe to drive (although I don't have halos or glare). The vision too seems to change often throughout the day with my best vision being first thing in the morning. Doctor says it will get better but I am becoming concerned because I see no improvement on a day to day basis.
I suppose I am hoping to hear others state that it takes some time to notice the improvements. I had a post op check up at 6 days and doctor says I have 20/15 vision. Don't know how I read the letters cause they were all blurry to me. He stated in 6 weeks time I will be very happy, but again, I am worried.
I'm always surprised no one mentions the colour shift. I had forgotten how white snow was.

Really hope you had the procedure due to cataracts not just because of glasses.
You mention colour shift - snow being white so I am assuming you had cataracts.
Your eyes are still healing - takes 6 weeks so it is normal vision will fluctuate especially if you are still taking drops. Dry eye could be affecting vision as well so you might want to look into artificial tears to help with that.
You did not say which lenses you had implanted. That too impacts the range of vision. If you opted for monofocal lenses targeting intermediate vision to read or see your computer you will need glasses for distance. You should at 6 weeks go see your optometrist to get a complete refraction test and that way you'll know your exact prescription.
If you make your own post here on forum you'll get more people weigh in.
Best of luck to you

Just had Vivicity toric put in my non=dominant eye first. It's been five days and I am still blind reading, although distance and intermediate vision are fine. I hope my reading vision improves; the company says it takes about a week for optimal vision; perhaps I am slow. In the meantime, I enlarged the font on my iphone to maximum. (go to settings and click on accessibility.) Am wondering if the second eye can have trifocal capability. I will ask my doctor.

P.S.: I noticed that the Vivicity lens seems to have a cool color bias. And, a day or two after surgery whites looked rosy pink on occasion. (My spilled milk looked pink!) The eye which did not have surgery showed colors a bit warmer (was that the yellowness of the cataract, or is the new lens daylight cool like the lightbulbs which are rated cool rather than warm?)
Still hoping for better reading. My second surgery is in two months.

It is quite normal after cataract surgery for colours to look much whiter and brighter. In comparison an eye with a cataract will have a yellow or even orange tint to colours. It is not normal to see pink however. Perhaps there was some bleeding after the surgery?
.
The Vivity lens is normally a blue light filtering lens, so it is a very light yellow in colour. But, it will not look yellow even when looking at whites.
