Hi there!

New here and wanted to post to share my experience.. I have no idea if I am experiencing vertigo or what it is....

I have had dizzy episodes in the past that always went away... years ago... like 7 years ago.. maybe the odd one here and there..

starting in Dec.. I had a few days where I was turning and took some gravol it would subside..

In January I had 2 episodes of the spins... no way I was able to get up they were that bad.. no nausea.. but since that last spin.. I have ringing of the ears.. (started in right ear) I had dizzy and movement everyday!! some daytimes not bad but awful when I layed down to go to sleep.. close my eyes and dizzy movement or movement coming towards me.. not fun... then a weird thing started.. episodes of out of the blue a sudden wave of dizzy that would make me jump or gasp.. lasting 1/2 second.. and gone! I will be at work or anywhere really and i would jump when it went through.. you could almost feel it.. go from one side of the head to the other.. or into ear.. just a dizzy feeling.. I dont black out.. only a few times did I feel like I was going to fall back..

The spins and dizziness lasted over a month.. I was getting pains in left temple, headaches across forehead or over left temple.. but it's better.. now I thought I was feeling better..and the quick wave of 1/.2 second ones are still hanging in.. maybe 2-3 x a day... sometimes Im looking down at my iphone.. sometimes Im not.. I've had all bloodwork done.. all normal.. an ENT app't booked for MAY! ugh too far.. I have eye exam in a week.. to cross that off..fam dr tested me for vertigo.. (laying back fast with head turned.. right side was a little but not bad.. does vertigo actually cause these little waves too? I feel fine once they are over fast just worry.. like all we think the worst..

I just worry cause this flash of dizzy is different.. sometimes i could be looking down and reading and feel like im going to fall over.. once i look up or adjust im good.. if anyone can share similarities.. so hard not to worry..

    update:

still going on.. headaches somedays not others.. but this sudden sensation in my head is definintely more often..  some dull some strong that make me hold onto the chair or literally jump out of the chair or shriek.. then it's gone..

Finally after 4.5 months.. went to ENT -waste of time.. he basically said you're in the wrong place.. I look after dizzy ppl.. um hello... I get lightheaded, dizzy spells and spins off/on!! but bc of my headaches off/on and this sensation.. he apparently couldnt help me..so.. now I wait for a neuro.

I was at the drs the other day.. these feelings in my head kept happening, i'd hold onto chair..super quick like couldnt get a word out fast enough and it's over but still scary..had a couple dizzy spells following right in office. She wants me to try a prescription for migranes called maxalt.. I realize you dont have to have headaches to have a migrane but what is this feeling that makes me jump or move!!

I went to bed lastnight,, i had head on pillow not even 5 mins and had small one then a big one that made me freak and sit up.. I started crying and then shaking.. assuming from anxiety of it all... my knee caps were shaking so bad, head, but I wasnt cold clammy!  Im pissed! I can cope most of the time but not these BAD ones or when lightheaded follows sad

Hi I have been told I have BPPV I was just crossing a road turned my head to the right I think to fast and with in two hours I came down with dizzy spells like nothing I have ever had , that was two months ago. I had to let my job of ten years go as I still cannot drive a car or look up or down if I do my vision goes and I can't judge the ground. I had a nasty falls out three months ago and hit a post with my left ear. So it seems I might of damaged that ear, I have bad neck pain at the back of my neck and headache come and go. I'm booked in to see a neurologist next month had mri and it was fine, had another bad fall three weeks ago fell though back door. This thing I call it has put my whole like in a spin I can't drive, I can't work, I can't walk alone shopping. I don't know how other people cope I'm starting to get depressed I've had to pull my super just to pay bills. I hoping it goes soon so I can start looking for a new job but I feel scared in case it comes back later on and last for months 👎

Poor you Sarah, this sounds horrible!   Are they sure of the diagnosis of BPPV?   I've had that x 3 times, but always when lying down and turning my head to the right.  It's always gone away on its own after about 2 weeks too.   Pleased to hear that MRI is OK, but think you may still need more answers from the neurologist.  Wishing you a speedy recovery and no recurrences.

Hi Sarah your not on your own out there believe me ,I've had this every day now for 3 years ,all day long ,it's stand up walk ,sit down again ,I've got neck ache ,had that for 9 yrs ,had 2 neck bones put back in this Feb ,but still have neck ache ,dread looking up and down .

I have tinnitus ,think for me it's all connected up to my neck ache ,ears ,and the balance ,which then in turn gives me anxiety ,it's a never ending up hill battle Sarah .So your not alone today .

Good evening!  I am a 47 year old male from the US and I was diagnosed with MAV - Migraine Associated Vertigo be an ENT and MARD - Migraine - Anxiety Related Dizziness by a balance specialist.   My symptoms sound similar. Read up on this two often misdiagnosed conditions.

Hello there. Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Im going through something strange my self. Basically i get a sort of head rush or zap every now and again. Some days its worse than others. When this happens i feel like im gona blackout. But only for a split second. Its like my ears are yawning when it happens and i also get palpitations at the same time, but this isnt everytime,  just sometimes. Im an electrician and work on ladders, hence the worrying. Dont know what to do about it other than try the doctors. So ive booked in next week. Hopefully he will have something useful to tell me.

Hi Richard. Make sure you get a blood test done and look into any medication you may be taking. The GP will probably suggest this to you. Also get an eye test if you have not had one in a while.

I forgot to mention that i was on sertraline for anxiety but have recently come off it. Do you think this might be causing my symptoms? Doctor said would be ok to come off it?

Hi Richard. I am sorry to say you may never know the exact reason for you problem but I can say that withdrawing from any ant-depressants or anxiety medication can cause serious side effects. You should always slowly decrease dosage over months or years to come off them and then still many people have problems. I have been on more than 10 medications of this kind and have suffered many bad side effects being on and coming off them. The docts always say you will be fine.

If it is down to medication withdrawal I can certainly say that the side effects usually subside over time. There were times when I had to go back on the medication for side effects to subside and years later I would suddenly stop and would be fine. I am not saying this is the cause of your problem but I think you should definitely look into it with your GP. (if you are lucky enough to have a caring GP who acknowledges that side effects and withdrawal exist)

Yes sorry smiles4life. Not nice feeling as we do whether cause can be from medication or not. I was just giving some feedback to Richard.
