Hi there!

New here and wanted to post to share my experience.. I have no idea if I am experiencing vertigo or what it is....

I have had dizzy episodes in the past that always went away... years ago... like 7 years ago.. maybe the odd one here and there..

starting in Dec.. I had a few days where I was turning and took some gravol it would subside..

In January I had 2 episodes of the spins... no way I was able to get up they were that bad.. no nausea.. but since that last spin.. I have ringing of the ears.. (started in right ear) I had dizzy and movement everyday!! some daytimes not bad but awful when I layed down to go to sleep.. close my eyes and dizzy movement or movement coming towards me.. not fun... then a weird thing started.. episodes of out of the blue a sudden wave of dizzy that would make me jump or gasp.. lasting 1/2 second.. and gone! I will be at work or anywhere really and i would jump when it went through.. you could almost feel it.. go from one side of the head to the other.. or into ear.. just a dizzy feeling.. I dont black out.. only a few times did I feel like I was going to fall back..

The spins and dizziness lasted over a month.. I was getting pains in left temple, headaches across forehead or over left temple.. but it's better.. now I thought I was feeling better..and the quick wave of 1/.2 second ones are still hanging in.. maybe 2-3 x a day... sometimes Im looking down at my iphone.. sometimes Im not.. I've had all bloodwork done.. all normal.. an ENT app't booked for MAY! ugh too far.. I have eye exam in a week.. to cross that off..fam dr tested me for vertigo.. (laying back fast with head turned.. right side was a little but not bad.. does vertigo actually cause these little waves too? I feel fine once they are over fast just worry.. like all we think the worst..

I just worry cause this flash of dizzy is different.. sometimes i could be looking down and reading and feel like im going to fall over.. once i look up or adjust im good.. if anyone can share similarities.. so hard not to worry..

the best way to explain my last few days is headache pressure across forhead, headache pain around left eye.. when im doing whatever sometimes I get the feeling of Im going to fall.. once I realize and adjust it is gone.. sometimes laying down too. The other feeling sometimes is like my head did a twitch but in fact didnt move..

Why are so many of us getting these same symptoms is the real question, got to be a common thread to finding out to why I've noticed its in similar time frame to,!only in my local shop yesterday and yet another youngster said he has depression just a thought has anyone heard of more people in there area saying the same .,and not getting better no matter what meds they've been given .All this giddiness and headaches and facial pain and anxiety.Maybe we all need to take note of peoples who tell us they've got these same problems. I. Know I do and how many are struggling on there own ,hoping one day it will just go.

have they checked your sinuses out, that can give you eye and and forehead and nasal pain ,mine is rhinitis ,allergies causes that. I had the skin prick test at hospital last year nothing came of it, that said they can't go into every thing due to cost,so I'm stuck with it on a daily basis,I'm going to get a neti pot see if that will help .what happened prior to getting this health wise .I believe that's the connection to it all . Go see that. Neurologist I for one would like to know what they come up with .Its connecting all the dots and finding how to get better,I agree it seems no end to it.best wishes x

I would like to know it you are well or feeling better at least as your last post here was 4 months ago.

My deepest sympathy to you on your condition.

I know peoples sympathy doesnt help your condition.

    Hey smiles,

I hear that it will usually come back within the first year. I recently went to a neurologist for this issue. He basically told me that bppv and labyrintitus is the same thing. He said potato patato lol. He tested me and briefly discussed my MRI and bloodwork. He said I have no issues neurologically however he was upset with my ENT. My ENT never sprayed and stuff in my ears in an attempt to clean them not did she refer me to an EMG. She spent a whole 5 minutes with me both visits. Useless!!! My neurologist is sending me to an ENG to start on vestibular exercises and wants to put me on Valium yuk! He claims that my brain is more hyper and sensitive to stuff like caffeine, nicotine, chocolate, ect. Told me that I need to stop these if I want to feel bettter. Said that I could be overloading. He also said that exercise in general helps with stress that in turn lowers the stress in ur middle ear.

    Smiles,

My neurologist also said that I will have to take a few days off of work while taking Valium. He wants to slow the hyperness in my brain down a bit in hopes of getting it back in line or something lol. He said that there was no eye nystagmus so it's strictly in the middle ear for me. He knows that I will have like 3 days of feeling miserable and 4 days much better but not perfect. He told me that the 3 days of feeling crappy are the actual middle ear bouts and the days of feeling somewhat better but no perfect is our brain telling our body that there is still something wrong. So even though we suffer the bouts for 3 days or so, afterwards we are actually back to normal yet our brain tells the body we are not. So this is why he wants me to take Valium especially while I am doing vestibular exercises at the ENG. I am not crazy upset or hyper over this to where I need drugs but he knows that I am tired of this stuff. Last thing he said was this will go away on it's own eventually but vestibular exercises can speed the process up. Also referred me to a specialist at Johns Hopkins

Hi there - Magnets it sounds like I had a similar diagnosis to you by my neurologist - she called it Vestibular Migraine after I had had an ENG. An excellent book to read is Heal Your Headache by David Buchholz which will help you understand the mechanism of migraines and how to avoid the things that trigger it - in particular caffeine, red wine, chocolate, nuts - all the things we all love!

    Patricia,

Thanks for giving me that piece of info. My neurologist said that I may be suffering from migraines but it has nothing to do with my current condition. Maybe the ENG will think otherwise. I have no idea! I do know that caffeine, nicotine and chocolate definitly make it worse yet I am not ready to sacrifice all of those. If it is a vestibular migraine then I suppose I will have to. If it's just a middle ear issue then I'll wait it out but maybe limit my intake of all of the above lol.
