Kate's Thumper Technique

Posted , 11 users are following.

Kate had a brilliant idea to thump your foot on the ground when getting up from sitting, it seems to "wake up" the muscles and stops the ache we seem to experience then we get up for the first few faltering steps.

Hence Kate's Thumper Technique.

If you haven't tried it, you haven't lived.  It works and is so simple.

Can I express my thanks to Kate53CornUK from everyone here.

    Graham,

Tried this, after a bus journey squashed in to a seat I feel really stiff, so got off and did the thump at the bus stop waiting for the next bus, then again when  and walked up the road perfectly, yea years ago there was a song  do the hustle now its do the thump.

      Sue,

Great - it works for you - but which leg did you thump?  Apparently I misread her thread, and should have been thumping the GOOD leg, instead I have been thumping the OPERATED one .... eek

Still, it worked, and the ceramic hasn't shattered .... yet.

I have a feeling in years to come that I'll be sued for all sorts of horrific injuries with people using Kate's Thumper Technique eek

Can I just say that I do a 'tappy' thing and not a full blown thump - I don't think you need to make holes in the floorboards, just gently let your brain know which foot you want to work.

Oh jeez...runs off in search of good lawyer.......

Don't talk to me about dancing, RM, I am a consummate kitchen dancer and keep forgetting no motown pivoting!

Just been out doing some gentle gardening - had a chair, sat by our big pots, and weeded them. Also been up a ladder (scary) to clear some moss off the roof ....... and I'm still in one piece, but it freaked my wife out though. eek

Well that freaks me out too. No worries that I will be up on a ladder in the near future!😨 I just managed the stairs to our basement (my office is there) and felt quite good about managing the down and up. I think we need a scolding icon for some posts! And on another topic completely, my dug her found me a very, very nice ginger beer which got me totally looped after half a glass (5.4%)! I came d*** close to tap dancing that night.

I saw my private physio yesterday, and she says that Kate's Toe Tapping Technique is absolutely the right way to go - it stimulates the blood flow that is restricted when we sit down.

The physio said that 'walking heels & toes on the spot' is also good when you stand as it gets the whole leg involved in waking up again.
