Klonopin and lexapro

Has anyone ever took klonopin and lexapro together I'm so tired of feeling like I'm dying. I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack at any time. Then I freak out. I'm taking only half a klonopin in morning and half at night. I'm scared to take the lexapro with the klonopin. Which has to do with my anxiety taking a new medicine I've never took before. Help I'm scared I'm dying !!!!!!!

    Hi, Christian_99982

I felt the same way you did for a long time. I've been to very well know anxiety therapist, a ton of psychologists, and finally found a great psychiatrist that at that time, I was 16years old when I started feeling like I couldn't breath, like I was going to die all the time..it was like every second of everyday I constantly struggled with it. you'd never know from just looking at me though, because i didn't tell anyone my thoughts, as I figured no one could or would possibly understand. plus I was afraid it would also make it worst just bringing it up. anyway long story short, I've been threw all the meds, seeing as I'm 43yrs old now and I'm finally at some what peace with my panic disorder. cause in my case it had become way more then just "anxiety!" It was like the worst debilitating fear of dying or going completely insane- it just sucked!! as I'm sure you know.

so now I've been on 1mg klonopin 2x's a day and 20mg of Lexapro daily. and I'll tell you that I tried paxil, zoloft, depakote , xanax, adavan, imipramine, effexor ER, etc...and so on.

now I've been taking Klonopin and lexapro for about 2yrs now and I haven't had anything near like the panic attacks I had a least once a month if not 2-4 x's a week!, the whole time I've been taking this combination.

ps. it took me about 3 years of my doctor trying to prescribe LEXAPRO with my xanax at the time, before I actually got desperate enough to try it. and I'm so grateful I did.

    sincerely, mb

**you'll be ok I promise you!!

Hi Christian, I have been on lexapro 20 mg for 18 mo now and at the start I was taken klonopin as well. The two meds work well. Take them as directed and call your doctor and pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns. I would also recommend that you talk with a good therapist and psycharist. My doctor and therapist has helped me alot. Best of luck and God Bless.

I just started taking Lexapro one week ago. before that I had taken prozac for over thirty years. the first morning after taking lexapro, I felt extreamly nervous, so much so that it hurt unbearably. I investigated on the internet, and found some people take clonazepam to alleviate this anxiety. so I got some, and took 1mg at night. it worked fantastic, and all the painfull anxiety was gone. I had taken tranquilizers before, and they do have some negative side effects, like always being thirsty, feeling a little spaced out. but I've been taking the two for over a week now, and have not had any bad effects. I reduced the clonazepam to .5mg at night and .5mg in the morning. I take 10mg of lexapro at night. steve

I just started taking lexapro and my anxiety is out the roof of the thought of taking med. I also take klonopin so have read this is ok to take together. I read your post and was just checking to see if this is working for you. I am so nervous and I know that is causing my anxiety worse.

Unfortunately, the lexapro was not working as good as I would of liked. So two weeks ago, i tried to go back to prozac. i took 40mg for one week. I felt a little nervous, but not to bad. Then I upped it to 80 mg a day.

After three days, I got real nervous, so I stopped it. I thought the clonazepam would always control my anxiety, but this turned out not to be the case. I took 3 or 4 .5mg tablets a day, but it didn't control the anxiety. So now I've been off of prozac for 5 days. I was nervous this morning, so I took 1mg clonazepam.

Now I'm a little nervous, but not too bad. So after two weeks of no prozac, I'm going to start up lexapro again. Even though I will be a little tired and lazy, it's better than the acute anxiety.

my problem with taking prozac or lexapro for much more than a month, is they start to hurt my stomach a lot, so I have to stop them. I guess they produce more serotonin in your intestines than your brain.
