Knee discoloation

i took a  photo of my knee earlier as I've been keeping a record on the progress of my scar

the photo looks strange as if you can see the metal through the skin

has anyone else experienced this?

Great scar... how many weeks are you on?.. I see what you mean about looking strange though. .. I haven't noticed that with mine... I had staples and my scar is ugly compared to yours

Yes the scar is great ...I had stitches that dissolved  but the bluish tinge is always there in that one place

    Is that bruising Jean?

Yes it's been like that since the Op and if I walk any distance it bruises even more  in that one place

You should get it checked out Jean in case there's a bit of bleeding going on.

      Doesn't look right rolleyes

Firstly your scar is brilliant. Trying to work out which way around your leg is. The metal bit is above the knee is that right? Could it be bruising. There should be a big wadge of thigh muscle tendon covering the knee

The bruised bit is just below the knee  making it just below the bend on the prosthesis

My knee seems to be clicking a bit have you had that?

The scar is fabulous  and will be just a thin line in a few months ...but the bruising below the knee is the worrying bit

and at 18 weeks tomorrow it looks unnatural to me

I wonder it it's this bit where they dig into the bone a bit. And it's where all the muscle tendons join together and join the bone . May be there is some friction there when you walk . Best get it looked at as bruising shows bleeding under the skin.

Mine clicks - clunks even, going downstairs.

Physio days that's normal and is the prosthesis moving against itself.

Annoyed me at first but now i dont mind. smile

Ah that's reassuring . It used to clunk and grind before op but this is a smooth clunk biggrin

Yes it is exactly where you've marked on the picture

I saw the surgeon on 31st Dec and he said he would look into it if it's still the same in February

tomorrow I'm seeing my GP for another matter but I will show him and see what he says

Haha yes isn't it! It bothered me until i realised it didn't hurt!

I have 6 lots of stairs to go down to escape outside

On the third lot it made a loud clunk and i just tutted and said 'oh shut up' to it! Lol smile

Would be good to know what he says. I wonder if a little drainage might help. But I'm only guessing not a medic

Love it just the attitude you need to get you through. 6 flights of stairs that's huge challenge each time. Well done
