I had a total left knee replacement  10 weeks ago and still have pain and stiffness, I have a fear of falling, although I am trying to walk with no sticks, unfortunately 9 days after my discharge I was rushed back in with a blood clot on my lung so this has hindered my progress, maybe I am hoping for too much too soon.

I had total keen replacement left knee in 2008 and right knee in 2010.  I can kneel down okay but cannot get up off the floor if I have nothing to pull myself up on.  I don't know if this is because of my knees or the fact that both my hips have gone as well.  Just had the right hip done and will be having the left one done later this year I think.  As I said kneeling down is no problem although on hard surfaces I do find I have to use a cushion or a towel to kneel on.   Have a look at a garden kneeler seat on Amazon.  they are really helpful to push yourself up on if you want to do anything that involves kneeling down. All the best to you

My knee replacement was 2 1/2 years ago and I wasn't told anything before or after, so am experimenting on my own and burning tire tracks all over the internet.  I HAVE kneeled on the replacement and it feels weird---but then again on the major surface area of my knee there is no feeling. I am 65 and I still use the method I have used for about 15 years to get up from the floor and that is to stretch my legs straight behind me, brace my toe area against the surface and "walk" my arms toward my braced toes until I can wobble my way upright. Fortunately at this age I can still stand straight, bend from the waist and touch the floor---had to do this for so many years to get up I think maybe they should fold me like a jackknife when they bury me.  (LOL)

I had both knees done in 2012. Yes, it hurts to kneel or push

against floor with knees. I have found if I roll onto my stomach

and use my hands and feet, I can get up that way by crawling

forward with feet and then standing up. It looks very ungainly but works.

Had my knee done 16 months ago plus a blood clot on my lung soon after, I have no feeling round the knee, numb. A lot of stiffness, can't raise my leg as high as the other one, and have a fear of falling. I am 76

I am sorry. Everyone told me I would be so much better

after knee replacement but not that much. I found out

I am allergic to nickel and that hasn't helped. My knees

feel swollen and painful a lot. I looked into a revision but

am very nervous to have surgery again.

I fell today and my left knee took the most impact so am

worried about that. I am 61 and have severe arthritis and

have bad back pain, too. I take Celebrex and muscle relaxers

and pain meds but still have a lot of pain. I try to do the best I

can. That is all you can do and pray a lot!

    Hi

I have not long had both hips replaced and have now to get both knee's done l am only 43 and because of bad OA in my legs this has happened. My hips are great now but am scared about getting knee's as it seems that the ops do not have good an outcome as hips and its a lot more painful for longer. My first knee replacement is 16th aug. My hips were done 8 weeks apart l am not sure how long apart my knee's will be done. I have to admit l am a lot more scared about getting this done readiing your stories as it seems like there can be a lot of issues.

Lors23, Yes I have had problems but I did great during & after surgery. I had great range of motion and got out of the

hospital early. I did all my exercises and rehab and it was not

until months later, my knees started getting tight and painful. I

kept going back to my Dr. and he kept telling me I was fine so I finally quit going. At the beginning of this year, I went to

another ortho surgeon and he put me in for the allergy tests

and I was allergic to nickel. I have titanium but it will have

some nickel. I would encourage anyone having knee replace

ment, etc. to be sure they are not allergic to what they are

having put in their body. I should have known as my earrings

caused problems but never thought about it. My knees started getting a tight band feeling and hurting. I could get a revision now but I hear it is much more extensive of an operartion. But until all this started happening, my surgery was great. Don't be scared, just do your homework & ask all questions you have in your mind before you get your surgery. And do your rehab afterwards. Since your hip replacement went well, I am guessing

you will do well, too. Blessings!
