I am now 10 weeks PO on Monday, my knees are painful during the day now, still not much sleep at night, my feet are a bit swollen as well, have been for a couple of weeks now, just wondering why? I dont see my specialist again until the 22nd, I had a packet of left over Naproxen (Before my op), which I just started again last night, hoping that wilI help for the pain & swelling.

I use a cane when going out, as standing for any period of time is uncomfortable, (as is sitting, except in my recliner chair)

Well folks some good news, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I am now 17 weeks, Bilateral TKR,  I'm now not taking any pain relief during the day, just 2 panadene extra at night, sleeping a bit better at night, and I can feel I am getting stronger now, doing much more even a bit of gardening, I guess it just takes time, but I'm so relieved that I can actually feel the improvement now

Robyn, I tried responding but it was deleted so I am going to shorten this up without the big story. I had a TKR 8 weeks ago. That followed 7 previous surgeries on the knee including 2 ACL replacements. I KNOW what pain is. I have always gotten away from the meds withing a week of surgery because of my employment as a police officer. I did the same after the TKR. Big msitake! The pain will affect your sleep. Your lack of sleep will affect your mental well being and your mental well being will affect your recovery. Take the pain meds if you need them. Get a sleep aid from your doctor and for goodness sakes go to ohysical thereapy. If you don't ask for the sleep aid they will not give it to you. I was given Ambien. Last week I was down to 1 pain pill per day and I was taking it at night with the Ambien and a pillow between my knees. 8 hours of sleep straight. There is no need to be miserable because this recovery is slow. Sleep will change your whole attitude. It did for me. Good luck
