Knees are doing great BUT now my foot!

Hi everyone! I'm 21 weeks BTKR and my knees seem to doing great. But about 3 weeks ago my right foot (the middle of the heel) started hurting. Now I'm limping around and can't be on my feet for very long and have to go sit down like before my surgery. I found out I have a heel spur. I'm so bummed. I was making such good progress and now this!  This happens to be on the stronger leg that I abused by using it more to compensate for my much weaker left leg. But now both legs are much stronger since my surgery and exercises. So I can see why my right foot might be rebelling. Anyone else have issues with their feet after their surgery, and how did you do.

The exact same thing happened to me! It was hindering my rehab. I straightaway went to a podiatrist and asked for a shot of cortisone. It’s been three weeks. Pain gone. Keeping my fingers crossed it stays away. Good luck to you!

Remember that after btkr or just tkr that our legs are now realigned. It will get better.

It's because of a change in the way you walk...

People get all sorts of additional pain in a lot of places as our subconscious shifts weight to different muscle groups to avoid pain.  You might want to consider some simple ankle/foot support device to help until you've regained your muscle strength and are fully recovered.

Problem is, with this terrible new pain in my foot, it's changing the way I walk. Do you really think a heel spur could have formed in 5 months time since my surgery? I would think it was formed throughout the 7 years I went around walking in pain with both knees bone on bone for so long. Maybe now with the shift in my alignment I'm feeling the spur? But I didn't the first 4 months after my surgery. Also, I've been taking Calcium supplements faithfully for the last 5 plus months. I'm not sure I trust all Calcium supplements. Could that extra calcium be contributing to the heel spur? Thanks for all your inputs!
