Labial fusion separation surgery in 2 weeks, help!

Posted , 11 users are following.

I have had fused skin over my clitoris since I was a child. Apparently I had LS then, which became symptom free when I hit puberty. I am now 35 and after an emotional trauma (I very unexpectedly lost my mum) it seems LS flared up again. I am seeing a very nice gyno who recommended we separate the fusion to uncover my clitoris as sex has always been stressful. Who can relax when your skin can rip from a sudden movement?? my surgery is in 2 weeks but I'm so so scared. I can't imagine how it will feel like after surgery, being all raw down there. She said it should heal in about a week but I'm making up horror stories in my head. Has anyone had this type of surgery? if so, how was the recovery? I try to focus on the benefits but there is little info to be found on this type of surgery online, especially when it comes to patient feedback. I am also worried about the flare up and what will happen after. It's such a nightmare. Anyone who has any insight please let me know. x

    Hello Vero

I hope you have found lots of support on this site as I have.

I am booked for this surgery on Monday in South West of the UK and am feeling very anxious and stressed at the thought. Although i want it done, like you the thought of any more sore bits in that area are spooking me out.

I took comfort from some of the ladies who replied to you as not everyone is offered this Fentons type procedure.

Have you thought of backing out of having it done?

Thinking of you and sending comfort and positive thoughts to you.

Hi Violet! so nice to connect with you here, we are in the same boat..I am very nervous too, can't stop imagining the day on Thursday. I haven't really considered backing out. I am scared of the healing process but I think I owe it to myself to find out if it can be better. I had a very emotionally trying year but when I found out my private insurance would cover this and I met this doctor who was willing to help, I took it as a sign it was time. Less troubles in 2020 hopefully. Still very worried but just trying to push through..I guess you need to focus on what will be better once it's done. For me I'm hoping more relaxed sex, no fear of tearing, less pain and most of all emotional healing. I can't help but think of my private parts as faulty and that can't be good. I will send you my number in a PM, we can keep in touch with whatsapp? I will think of you on Monday, be strong. As the ladies said, this too shall pass. At least we are in this together, and not alone. xxx

Vero and Violet- Hi ladies. I had the surgery NOV 1 for clitoral phimosis ( as per DR. Andrew GOLDSTEIN), from my LS Specialist here in Houston ,TX, USA. Please don't be nervous, it was not bad at all! A little lidocaine gel to apply for pain, continue Clob on newly separated bits, and I wore dresses to work ( went back at 5 days post- op, had it on a FRIDAY and took off mon/ TUES, back to work Wed. I took very little pain meds, just Ibuprofen a few times, none of the big stuff they had called in. The anesthesia did make me very constipated for 10-11 days- I made fruit smoothies with flaxseed and greek yogurt, added daily prunes and finally Miralax and finally got things going. Post- surgery she did prescribe Premarin estrogen cream to speed healing, but it was too much for me as I am not menopausal, everything swelled up 3x their size! as soon as I stopped Premarin, it receded. Too much added estrogen.

I had my 2- week follow- up yesterday and all looks good, I look more like me and not a melted candle! I still need to apply CLOB everyday to newly separated tissues as they will try to re- fuse themselves. Dissolving stitches nearly gone, and next check in 4 weeks where I will get the go ahead to try it out! Having had my orgasms go from a 9/10 to a 1/2, it can only improve!

Hi Karen!! so glad everything looks good on your end!!! I am a lot less worried after hearing from you, the only thing that makes me a bit anxious is that supposedly I won't have stitches, just raw areas. She said she'll remove some of the skin in a way that I won't need it. I am trying to trust my doctor, maybe there are more ways to do this? She has done this before. As my clitoris is fused together with the skin I am worried that will be the most sensitive after they expose it again, will definitely ask for lidocaine cream.

I was also thinking about you regarding orgasms. I never had sex with a normal, exposed clitoris so can't compare (will be excited to try after) but after having difficulty achieving orgasms and only being able to get there in one position (kinda helping myself at the same time) my husband got me a mini vibrator to use instead of my hands. I have to say it helped tons! I was able to have normal orgasms without trouble with these. Not the ideal solution but if in 4 weeks you feel you're still not 100% maybe give them a go. xxx

Hi Vero, many women would love to be in your shoes, to have been given the option of having their lady parts unfused. That said, I would be anxious too, I think that is normal, but your still young and do you really want to put up with a fused clitoris for the rest of your life.? No of course not. I did read of someone having this done a long time ago and she reported that the operation changed her life for the better. The only thing that you have to watch is that you give that area constant care or it will fuse over again....rapidly. So, I think you will need to apply oil without fail before bed and during the day to stop that area becoming 'sticky' and fusing again.
