Amitriptiline can reduce the autonimous reaction that increases phlegm production and resultant cough.

i can second that. My consultant put me on 10 mg Amitriptyline last Thursday. I'm pretty confident that the endoscopy resulted in my oesophagus going into spasm and A PH test confirmed that I was experiencing pain when reflux was absent (only had silent reflux prior to endoscopy). Anyway, this has probably been my best week in the last 9 months. My chest pain has reduced by about 90-95% and I only feel a slight dull ache now and then. I just hope that the drug is not masking the problem but I do feel a lot better.
cheers

So pleased you have found something to help.
Just a question do you take amatripaline along with ppi med or do you just use it on its own?
Thanks

Elazabeth. Good evening. Trust me i tried every thing on this planet just to find a releief but every thing fails until my specialist robert jess at ent called me and prescribed me elavil 25 mg. Then taking after 1st day until now i m feeling much better. But keep in mind there could be other problems also that can makes the symptoms worse even it is little bit like allergy or reflux etc. Low allergy or reflux that dont cause problems in normal people cause more problems who have laryngeal sensory neuropathy. Medicines don't stop working like capforfun was discussing. It just something else is also going on at that time like allergy or reflux when it seems medicine is not working. Just take care allergy and reflux and continue taking elavil that will reduce lots of problems.

I need my voice for work and sound horrible

hi Chris, hoping you are still able to see this message. I was so relieved to come across your post. I have been diagnosed with LPR and just started a tricyclic drug (not the same as you) I noticed a difference instantly too. Do you still take them now, and are they/were they just as effective til then? many thanks
