Leaky gut, dysbiosis

Posted , 8 users are following.

I have some health problems which have appeared in last 4 years- acne, geographic toung, bloating and recently I have developed allergy to diary and eggs, I have been tested for celiac desesase and test results was negative. I have strong suspections that it is strongly conected with my gut bacterial flora (leaky gut) because before my problems started I had 2,5 weeks antibiotic course. Maybe someone can give me some advice what to do next- what kind of doctors to consultate and what kind of analyses to take.

Some personal experiance?

    Hi Rudolf,

Sorry to hear about your problem. I have more or less the same issue (with IBS-A) and no particular triggers but general chronic ailments of the like, and I found this thread https://patient.info/forums/discuss/100-working-treatment-for-my-ibs--257543?page=6#1302695 in this same forum extremely helpful.Let me know how it works  for you! : )

    Hi

My neighbour is French - and she says that they are always given probiotics with or after antibiotics - seems as though the NHS is behind ?

Sacchromyces Boulardi ??? To ensure the bowel flora recovers.

    Hi Rudolf

aggree that you should be taking fermented vegetables at least twice a day and miles cheaper than probiotics. The main thing that fixed me (took six months) was 800 mg of the anti oxidant Alpha Lipoic Acid. This apparently is one. Of the few substances that crosses the brain barrier. I dont think you can OD on it other as I just kept upping the. Dose till it worked.

Can you please elaborate further? Im treating candida and leaky gut with antifungals, candida diet and l-glutamine, maybe I should add Alpha Lipoic acid?

ALA is aimed at the geographic tongue and there is a small amount of data on Mayo Clinic if memory serves me correctly under "burning mouth syndrome". I believe all these things are interrelated but it is super hard to find a practicioner who understands it. I even had one top specialist want to give me anti phycotic drugs. I had no luck with l-glutamine. Are you getting acid reflux symptoms during sleep! Does your annus burn at all?

Hi! My problem is mainly IBS-D, intolerances. In the worst time it included acid reflux, palpitations and annal itch. All this is gone now and I'm left with "normal" IBS-D. I believe probiotics, l-glutamine in HIGH DOSES and vitD has helped a lot. Now Im following the anticandida diet and adding antifungals.

Sounds like you have a yeast infection to me.  You might talk to your doc about testing your stool for yeast (candida is most common) and a course of oral antifungals.  If you can tolerate it, also try replacing your normal gut flora with organic yogurt with live/active cultures or just take oral lactobacillus/acidophillus if you can't tolerate the yogurt. The other suggestions about fermented veges and other bowel flora restorers are worth a try.  I would try them and stick with what works for you, since everyone is different.

Kifir is a TREMENDOUS improvement over yogurt in probiotic properties!
