Left upper quadrant abd pain

I have been seeking help with this for the past 5 months. Most tests normal except for elevated C reactive protein one elevated lipase with normal amalase. Pain is bearable if i don't eat or move around too much. Taking up to 4000mg tylenol during the day and 400-600mg motrin at night to sleep. I'm at my wits end as the pain continues to increase. I have been told it is not pancreatitis because lipase not hogh enough. Started with a new high blood sugar needing insulin to now no insulin at all. Any thoughts?

Lipase isn't a direct corollary to pancreatitis. I'd suggest getting a second opinion and stay away from Tylenol and Motrin. They can work against you. Get some scans and make sure they go high enough to see the pancreas. I'm so sorry. Hoping you get good news.

Multiple scans. Found out i have 2 extra but small functioning kidneys and pancrease diversum but they dont feel that is contributing to the pain

Also those meds are the only thing allowing me to go to work. The pain is almost unbearable without it

You said pain is bearable of you dont move around much, does this mean movements touches or aggravates your pain?

Movement aggravates the pain. Walking or pressing against the area are particularly uncon

      Do you mean Uncomfortable?

What happens if you dont take pain meds?

Can you feel pain with breathing as well?

Very uncomfortable. I end up sitting on the couch with a pillow pressing into my side. Kind of like chewing gum on the tooth that hurts. I tried not taking anything and it was so bad that it took almost 6 hours of 2 doses tylenol and one of motrin before i had tolerable relief. Yes i feel it with every breath but only one episode where i felt like i could not get a good breath. Added the mmotrin to the tylenol at that time

It feels more musculoskeletal in your case, it could be a nerve, blood clot or artery compression. Request your doctor for duplex ultrasound of nerves and abdominal arteries. Do a self test called carnetts sign test if you feel pain by doing that then it could be abdominal wall pain, nevertheless discuss this with your doctor and request for duplex ultrasound.

I have an appointment with neuro in august. Can no longer eat without nausea. Lost 4 more pounds

Does eating immediately causes pain? I would suggest to manage without pain medicines if you can, most of the time pain meds worsen stomach issues and delays healing as well.

another question, was this pain triggered by something like a medicine that you might have used or because of sickness or something?

At his point there is never any time there is no pain just varing intensity. It increases in intensity with eating. Without pain med there is no eating but i can still tolerate fluids. This all started while taking tamiflu in february. Them it was just like a stomach ache that has steadily gotten worse. Just reread the notes after doctor visits and noted in their notes as well.

    Anne,

From my understanding, a divisum can certainly cause that pain. I am not a doctor, however I have read posts from another user on here who experiences pain and pancreatitis from having the same issue. Perhaps I would seek a second opinion if you are not improving and continuing to decline.

I have now seen 2 more specialists. Both feel there is something wrong but don't know what. More tests to come. Put me on bentyl but not sure if that will work.

What did they say your next steps are? Did they perform any additional tests? Did you mention SIBO?

I'm doing a breath test to rule out bacterial overgrowth. Some stool specs as well. Trying bentyl for the pain but as of now it has done nothing.

That’s great news that they are even considering the breath test! Keep me up to date on how your doing! I’ve had further scares as I’m still feeling the same, and I’ve had a very large lymph node come up on my lower left neck. I’m giving it a few days and if it gets larger or doesn’t retract, I will have to get it checked.
