Leg & foot get cold

Posted , 12 users are following.

Afternoon hipsterz! Well after tomorrow I have 2 more weeks of non weight bearing. Now I have been having this issue on & off, today really was the worse. My leg, the operated one, from knee down to my foot get cold. Especially when I'm a sitting. My foot swells some and even is a lil darker in color than my other foot. Has anyone experienced this? Does it get better? What is happening with it? I go see dr in a cpl of weeks for more X-rays and follow up. I have had an exam where they use machine to view veins from foot to groin and they said all was fine. They say I have good pulse in leg too! Just when I think things are looking up some.......I want to cry again. 😢

    HiLinda

Im still having the same problem with my foot feeling cold and tingling. I'm nearly 8 months post op and it has been like this from the beginning.  Ive been trying to get something done all this time and I finally went to see an orthopeadic surgeon 4 weeks ago and he agreed to send me for a nerve conduction test but I'm still waiting for the appointment.

If you get any satisfaction let me know and I'll let you know when I've had my nerve conduction test.

Hey Brenda my dream called me back. Doesn't think anything serious. My main problem is being non weight bearing for 4 weeks & now 2 more to go. And because I'm not moving this leg my circulation is not too good right now. I have good pulse so it's just the non movement. I hope yours is not serious and it can be corrected asap! But please let me know what dr says for you!! Prayers going your way!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Linda I had a good laugh, that is what I need at the moment. When I read it I thought your doctor must be a dream, could be at that.

Oh Linda, haven't had anything like that and certainly hope it isn't anything too serious. You have been through so much. I was wondering how you were doing and thinking about you and all you have been through. Hope those two weeks don't seem to drag on and take forever for you. I am sure you want to be able to be weight bearing and to begin to be able to move normally again. Can you call your doctor and ask them about the leg? I don't know really haven't even heard of this before, may be something just from having to have the surgery over. I am just making guesses here. Wishing you the best and sending lots of healing hugs...Barb

Thank you Barbie! 🤗 I can honestly say things are feeling better!! I did call my dr and he called me back said because I really am not moving that leg things are going to be feeling weird and circulation is out of wack because again no movement but it's crucial that I remain this way for the two weeks to allow the bone graft to take. So far so good, my legs are the still the same length!! So I'm using a compression device that squeezes my calf to help with circulation especially while sitting. I got 2 more weeks to go girl!! Then to start a new chapter of weight bearing and walking!! My hubby has champagne ready to go!! 🍾🍾🍾🍾. I still cry tho cause well there is always something different going on, nothing bad but just gets me down. I appreciate and love all you guys for all the support, the advice & tips! Glad I came on!! 🤗🤗. LD

It's from bring non weight bearing. If you had a clot, the pain would be unbearable.. Especially if you touched the part of your leg where the clot is.

When I was non weight bearing , this happened to me.. Cold , tingle, color change.. I began wearing the compression stockings again, and it went away within a day or two. It's from lack of blood circulation.

      Put those stockings on.

Thanks. I'm using the sequential compression device while sitting in this darn wheelchair. I'll try using the compression hose tonight in bed. It's a yucky feeling tho!! LD

Oh Linda I understand the crying....I would be crying all the time if it had been me. Also they say crying makes you feel better, gets it out of your system. Anytime you need to vent or anything we are here to listen. Hang in there! Praying the two weeks fly by....Enjoy the champagne...Hugs...Barb

I am having the exact same thing going on with my leg and foot after I broke my femural neck and had it repaired with 3 screws and a washer. They discovered I have osteoporosis during the surgery. I have a heating pad on this moment. I am 4 weeks post op and my leg and foot is still very swollen to the point I can't wear any of my shoes, not even slip ons. X-rays showed all was ok at 2 weeks post op. I'll go back in 3 weeks for more views. Is there anything through experience that you can tell me to ask my surgeon or advice?

Very glad your doctor got back to you quickly to reassure you. Goodness me but you have had enough of a detour on this journey.

2 more weeks - whooee! You have to start counting down with a special activity a day - perhaps you start with a hug for your Dream (oh sorry, doctor) 😊😆

In two weeks - I will be starting over with hip #2.

    Good luck Linda.
