Leg & foot get cold

Afternoon hipsterz! Well after tomorrow I have 2 more weeks of non weight bearing. Now I have been having this issue on & off, today really was the worse. My leg, the operated one, from knee down to my foot get cold. Especially when I'm a sitting. My foot swells some and even is a lil darker in color than my other foot. Has anyone experienced this? Does it get better? What is happening with it? I go see dr in a cpl of weeks for more X-rays and follow up. I have had an exam where they use machine to view veins from foot to groin and they said all was fine. They say I have good pulse in leg too! Just when I think things are looking up some.......I want to cry again. 😢

hi linda,
our body is a mystery and a wonderland - that's all I am saying - it heals on her own , fires up nerves or who knows what, swells, sensations of discomfort, cold, hot ...then the brain .... and all we can do is observe -
Good that you called your dr.
This would also concern me - maybe a nice warm rub????
I don't remember where you are but wish you a good night anyway with hours of uninterrupted sleep ...
big warm hug

Thanks Renee! It's 7:55 in the morning right now. I live deep in the heart 💛 Of Texas!! I know I got to keep these things in mind. And being cut twice on this thigh within a 3 week period, I know more trauma so maybe longer healing. Thanks for your post! 🤗🤗. LD

Hello Linda ..
I see that your post was quite a long time ago .. I wanted to ask you if the feeling of cold in your leg and foot is gone? ..
I have almost 5 weeks of having surgery, and my leg and foot operated like you, feels cold and numb .. sometimes I just want to cry .. Could you help me by telling me how you end your story? Thank you very much

congratulations on your new hip, you have joined the hippy group.
swelling can cause the discomfort you describe. very normal.
usually keeping your leg up and ice the area 20 minutes several times a day and move your foot in circles will help control the swelling. i had the swelling in my foot i couldn't get a shoe on. i used a battery op device which applies air pressure to squeeze the op leg. it is made of a light plastic and slides over the leg like a sock with a squeeze / release soft air pressure motion on the upper and lower leg. it helped release the tight numb feeling in the foot and leg area controlling the swelling in both the knee and foot areas. swelling like that can be quite miserable relief was quite welcome . the device is inexpensive and is similar to what they use in the hospital. easy to slip on and off. in a few weeks the swelling should calm down.
you'll be up and around with all this behind you ... sooner than you can imagine.
