lichen sclerosis

Hi I have recently been dyagnozed with Lichen Sclerosis, and have been advised to wair only cotton underwear. I'm having trouble finding briefs that don't hurt my crotch. Someone suggested I try the Sloggy brand, and have done this. Although they fit in every other way, when it comes to the crotch area, I find they are very tight, and become very painful! I've even tried a bigger size, but to no avail! Can someone please help?  Sory to be so personal, but i'm at my wits end, and hardly go out because of this.  Thank you in anticipation.  Val.

Tenn Lady  can be bought in most chemists - but why not chat to your district nurse or maybe the practice nurse, she will be able to discuss the best one to buy that will fit and Do The Job!

    Good luck

Hi Suedm!  Got those pants from John Lewis, but elastaine is rubbing between legs in crotch area, and making area very sore, so going to see about the tenna lady ones.  Thanks for your help, really appreciate it.  Val.

Why not cut the elastane band off and hem around the raw edge - not pretty but may be more comfortable - Sorry it didnt work for you

If I get sore inthe crease in the groin i will use an antifungal cream sometimes with hydrocorisone. Often it is a "sweat " rash and in the creases of the various operation scars on my tummy where the fat is slightly folded over in the warm weather I get VERY red and sore  and i apply canestan on that area too so that is clears up

When the groins were very bad a year or so ago - in Australia - i kept the skin folds apart either with folded tissue or a silk hanky- the trick is to stop the skin surfces touching each other Good luck

    Hi Val

I have had LS for a long while.I am now 60 and at the moment it is under control. Over the years I have tried different kinds of underwear. By chance I tried the shorts that you find in the stores. I get mine in Primark and i find them far comfier and do not rub. Always worth a try and not too expensive if they do not work. Lesley

Hi Lesley!  Would the boxer shorts be the best, or just ordinary ones?  Tried various types of pants, even getting 2 sizes bigger, but they all seem to be tight, and rub the crotch area. I'm at my wits end. Don't wear any around the house.  Even tried putting the cream on that my specialist gave me, but it soon dries in.  Val.

For me they worked because the legs grip round top of leg rather than on crotch area. I got a size bigger. They have them in Tesco as well. They are also a bit looser. Not cotton but I struggled with styles of any cottons ones I found.

Good luck. I have had LS for a long time but it is still all a learning curve. I only found this site a few months ago. Before that I had very little information.lesley

Hi Lesley! Thanks so much for that. I only found this site by accident and a few days ago.  I'm so glad I did!

You can get some panties that are called hi legs, they have a wider leg opening.  They may be worth a try.  If it was me I would be in store lingerie departments and trying all different styles until I found some that worked.

I wear my husband's white cotton BVDs. No I'm not a reverse Caitlin Jenner, nor a cross dresser, haha. Skirts are wonderful, no rubbing in crotch area.  I even go commando sometimes.  Ah, relief.

    I'm a Val too
