Light-headed, dizzy & spaced out for 2 years, can anyone help?

Hi there,
I'm hoping / praying someone can shed some light on my extremely frustrating & somewhat debilitating symtoms. Aprox two years ago I started to feel a little light headed, I was working in retail at the time and the shop was incredibly busy (I have always worked in sales, so this did not phase me, what did cause me concern was how light headed I had been feeling) At the time, I presumed it was just a side effect from citalopram - something I had been prescribed six months earlier for feeling a little low. I did think it was strange that I felt woozy and light headed six months into the course as I had only previously experienced this feeling at the very beginning. I mentioned it to my doc and they agreed if i felt ready i should taper off citalopram - so i did. Slowly but surely i reduced my dose and presumed the light headed, dizzy almost drunk feeling would disappear - much to my surprise, i am still in the same state - blurred vision, wobbly, floaty and very very dizzy.
I have been to see my GP numerous times - my iron & bloody sugar levels, thyroid have been tested. They even sent me for an MRI scan and it all came back clear. My blood pressure is a little low but nothing too alarming and the ENT doctor said they couldn't find any inner ear problems (which I kind of thought would be the case because it's not a spinning sensation that you might expect from say labyrinthitis, it's more of a constant faint feeling)
It is a nightmare crossing the road or entering a busy supermarket. I am no longer quick on my feet and my memory is very poor too. I feel dazed and confused a lot of the time and extremely tired.
I'm only 31 and have a real love for life - can anyone suggest what could possibly be happening to me? I would be incredibly grateful as this god awful 'whatever it is' is really taking it's toll on my work, my relationship with my partner, friends and family (more so because there is no diagnosis as yet so I feel like people don't really understand what is actually wrong with me) every day I pray that this has just been a nightmare and I will wake up and feel normal again.
Look forward to your feedback...

I have been traveling since it started 4 months ago, but will finally be home soon, where i plan to start seeing doctors. I know it is gonna be hard to describe what i am feeling, so reading this post has really helped me. And gave me relief that I am not the only one suffering from this. Not that I would wish this upon anyone!!!! Any suggestions you can offer on what to say to doctors will be much appreciated! Hope you have gotten relief!

Hi Dizzy, my name is Ross and I'm a 31 year old male from the US.
I too suffer from a similar problem. Here's my story...
I went to Las Vegas for a friends bachlor party, drank all weekend and flew home on a Sunday, I felt fine, just a bit hungover.
That night I came down with a very high fever and flu.
A few days later I was beginning to feel better, however I felt a bit disoriented and just blew it off thinking it was my body getting over the flu.
Days went by and symptoms got worse. My eyes always feel tired, like I haven't slept in days, my eyes burn and hurt like they are always strained. I'm ALWAYS lightheaded and somewhat dizzy. Fast head movements make me feel sick to my stomach. IT NEVER GOES AWAY. I can no longer fall asleep like I used to, caffeine and other things like alcohol have been cut out of my life for the past 8 months and still no change for the better. I have been to about 10 different specialists and they all write me off and say it will go away, but I know it won't.
I've began to self diagnose and research and I'm beginning to think that my brain chemistry is off causing neurotransmitters to misfire and send incorrect signals. Have you ever been tested for that?
Also, have you looked into chronic fatigue syndrome?

I am in the EXACT same situation. I'm 17 and cannot even get out bed anymore because I am so dizzy, lightheaded and feel just completely s**t. Had every test possible done and have been told "it's just stress." Don't understand how stress could make me bedridden. Hope you find answers really soon!

Hi dizzy I have had the same and I'm getting over it . I spent to much time enjoying the buzz lol. I may be an infection lingering in your body but mine seems to be thick blood . What I do it drink an alcoholic drink to help kill stuff in the blood every now n then but to start with take 2 aspirins before bed then again before work in the morning if you feel better you may have thick blood they never check for that. Anyway if so check the Internet for natural blood thinners like vitamin e . They would be better for you I would think . Good luck!

Hello DizzyDebs,
I feel dizzy 2.I can't imagine right now feeling this way for 2 whole years. I truly sympathize with you or should I say empathize. This feeling is no joke and just like you I had several test such as CAT Scan, MRI, and Echocardiogram done just last week to see why I was feeling so dizzy. All tests including blood came back negative thank God. I might have one or two goods days then right back to this which has been going on for about 3 months now but has gotten worse over time. I thought it was a product I was taking for weight loss but I stopped taking that. I also changed my lifestyle to that of Vegan and thought perhaps it was a detoxing side effect from that. I don't know what to think anymore but I pray that we both get over this condition very soon. By the way, would you happen to have a Saatva mattress? This feeling started right after I started sleeping on mine. Just wondering.

Hello,
for those of you who are dizzy, try plugging your ears with silicone plugs for a week or two (one ear at a time) and avoid every little sound, including the sound of running water, motor sound of fridge, AC/heater, car rides and even talking and see if it makes any difference. I had the dizziness and oscillopsia for 4 years and had multiple tests, MRIs, CT scans and none of the doctors could figure out what was going on. I didnot realize that it was sound (even the sound of the fridge and that too a new one) could create the dizziness and oscillopsia for me. Please change the plugs before it starts breaking off in your ear. When you plug, make sure the sound doesn't penetrate through, seal it well. If this helps, please notify your neurotologist. Sometimes, it is difficult to diagnose a fistula/dehiscence in the ear. If this helped, please let me know so that we can help others.
Thanks and good luck!

does anyone feel visual sensory overload; as if their eyes and brain aren't fully connected and refuse to just take in all the visual stimulus around us?
Apart of the drugged / drunk feeling and cognitive dysfunction and brain fog, my vision problem is probably the worst thing to deal with! I tend to wear sunglasses which kind of minimizes the stimulus and definitely help with photofobia and fluorescent light !
Anyone feeling the same way ?

Was perfectly healthy up until this all began over a year ago.
Sensitive to light
Eye floaters
Dizziness/lightheadedness
Feel spaced out
Can’t sleep well
Heavy morning fatigue that lasts into the day
No one has a clue what’s wrong with me.. all MRI, CT SCANS came back good. May try an EEG and sleep study.

I had the same problem a few years ago and had actually commented as well..was so bad this feeling and no logical cure ....untill...my dentist took an xray of one tooth and it's filling and discovered there was decay under the filling..so I had to have the tooth redone..cleaned all the decay out and a huge new filling..sore gum etc for a few days but now all dizzyness has gone.. disappeared.vanished..im not walking about like a zombie anymore trying to disguise that I'm not feeling quite right..I never ever would have thought it was something to do with a tooth and filling..

I have been to 11 doctors and had ever scan but all clear. I do noticed when I eat certain foods now it gets worse coffee, beer, wine whiskey, foods with lots of sugar. So out is all the fun stuff. I am thinking of quittin my full time job and doing something that does involve a computer. Every day I think I hope I die young. This Sucks!
