Liver disease

Posted , 7 users are following.

I have bee drinking heavily for over 4 years and just found out that I have liver disease. I suspected kidney failure since the I saw the signs for the past weeks but , the test showed that my liver level is very high. Is there any chance for me to live a normal life again.? I can't drink anyways because the site effect bothers me a lot. I have all signs of damaged kidney and liver. I will find out for sure Monday what my options are.

So sorry you are having problems

Hope can try to stop drinking, I'm not sure if you have had scan or fibroscan or seen a liver specialist.

Your liver can heal it self depending on how bad your liver is.

look up the site on Health unlocked/ love your liver you can get a lot of info and support.

Hi Julie, I am really sad reading your post. 45 is no age to have the problems you have. I have raised ALT 182 and my Liver specialist is not sure why, I'm trying to lose weight as he asked me but find it bloody impossible. The Drs are very supportive and reassuring but I still want to know why! But most importantly the one thing I wanted to share with you is what my Dr said to me today, that although the liver is a massive organ it has a great ability to recover on its on that's why we are not given medication. Good luck on Monday Hun, keep us updated x

I am hoping that my liver will recover by itself.I am watching what I eat and I exercise daily. But, if my liver is in stage two, it will not recover and will be incurablle all though can be treated.

Don't ever feel alone Julie. Everyone here is very supportive AND full of advice / helpful tips! I stopped drinking in 2009 (liver transplant wasn't due to drink) with support from family & friends. Drop me a PM if you want. We're here to help.

I sent Julie my email address Matt, while I still could, then she disabled her messaging and everything vanished.

I hope everything is ok with her.

Thank you and I am scared. I wish I had a good family who could understand but they are close-minded and bad . Right now I know the only thing they gossip about is my drinking. My sister labled me as drunk and she and her daughter , had nothing else to talk about but to make me feel bad by calling me names and gossiping about me while they both are drug adicts. I am gald I am free from them.

Julie, concentrate on yourself now and you know that Matt and I are here to offer you our support.

As for your sister, she probably feels better about herself if she is criticising you.  Don't waste your precious energy on worrying about her.

We'll be rooting for you tomorrow.

Yes, second that. If she's happier to criticize as opposed to helping you then save your energy! The quitting really needs to be your focus and your Sister can be a help or a distraction. If she doesn't want to help then sorry. Don't fret about the results, worrying won't change anything, so take it in your stride. Good luck for tomorrow.

      Hello again,

.I got the second result that my liver tissue is damaged really bad that can't filter the toxins. The toxins and fat goes straight to my blood cells.

The doctor ordered Ultrasound for both my liver and kidney and he can’t do anything unless he gets the result.

I don’t know what to expect all I know that I read on Google and doesn’t  sound good. It even says that a patient can die from it with no warning at all.

Did you get any figures for ALT in the blood results? Or any figures in fact? I know it's more waiting but don't panic. I would have guessed they would be high at the moment as you have just stopped recently. If it were to give up completely, you'll most likely go very yellow (jaundice) first. The ultrasound is important because it will show the physical damage to the liver if any...known as scarring (cirrhosis). That's where it could be permanently scarred and can't fix itself. I know it's more waiting, but total failure with no warning is rare. Do you know when you have to go for the US yet?

Hi Julie, didn't the doctor give you any idea of what to expect?  I'm sure it must be difficult to take everything in when you get news like this.

Matt is right about the jaundice, your eyes tend to turn yellow before your skin.

Do you have anyone you can talk to, who isn't judgemental and can offer you support?

Hello mrsmop, about my options after he see the result of my ultrasound. I have to do it today.

i talk with friends who are supportive but family no!. They are not good to talk to. They will label me and find a topic to hate me and to find stories to make me look as disease person. I am tired and have no energy and I am scared to death. I don’t know what to expect? I will find out after I do my test. Thank you for your response.
