Looks like you were about to tell us about your ct scan when the connection dropped out.  Among your blood tests, did it include an Iron Studies test?

Sorry yeah thought I had posted rest of my story but it cuts off half way through. So I had a ct scan which they compared with one I had 3 years ago for ovarian cysts so the comparison of the two showed my liver has grown. I have had MRI and two liver biopsy the liver specialist has ruled out cancer, hep, hiv ,automamun and a lot of other normal and uncommon deseses

The Specialist has told me I have no abnormal cells in my liver it has just grown and they don't know why at all . I have been told I am a house (TV show) case which leaves me no were I can now feel my liver pushing on my rib cadge and it's causing great deal of pain I have gone from fighting fit to fighting to say alive its crap I can't find any information on my condition at all my liver is not fatty or inflamed it's just grown......

There must be something wrong with your liver if you are having symptoms and feel like you are fighting to stay alive.  Keep pushing them to look harder for answers, or ask dr to send you to someone who investigates like House's team does (did).  In my personal experience, not with liver, I have said "Someone is missing something" which made them have a rethink.

Although I have seen pictures of livers that had grown downwards into the abdominal space and supposedly benign.  The biopsy should have ruled out iron overload too.  If you have had every test, what does your Iron Studies say.  If you do not have copies of all your tests, ask for them so you can check them yourself, and good to keep your own records anyway.

Good luck and let us know how you go.

Hi they are not the best at giving you the results on NHS but I shall ask but the specialist did say everything Was within normal range. That's my frustration there must be something wrong ! My liver goes right down into my pelvis on right side and just bellow the belly button on my left. They are waiting to see if it will go back to its normal size my next appt is in August till then they have me on morphine patches and oxycodon for pain

I am in Australia so don't know the intricacies of NHS.  However we do have free public hospital and bulk billing (no cost to patient).  My free specialists will print off test results when I ask them but as they are supposed to copy to your gp, you should be able to ask your gp for a copy.  So I usually leave it till I go to my gp unless it is immediately important.

When I find that website regarding the livers growing into abdomen I will send it to you.  In the meantime you could google 'overgrown liver' or 'extended liver' or 'liver with a tail' or something like that.  I don't know what the end result was, as it was not something I was looking for at the time, except that it was so unusual that it stuck in my head.

No, don't look up 'liver with a tail' - it is not the right one - mostly associated with animals!!!!!!!  I just vaguely remembered them using the word 'tail' for some reason.

Not exactly the website I saw a couple of weeks ago - but maybe getting close I think:

    http://www.ajronline.org/doi/full/10.2214/ajr.177.5.1771113

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23164025

Second thoughts, this sounds like normal size liver moving around while yours is different.  I did see an MRI of a liver extended down into the abdomen and pelvis but have not found it yet.

Perhaps there is a gastroenterologist or ?specialist who would love to take on your case purely for its rarity and they can write up a case study report about it.

I just can't see how it would shrink back to normal by next test!!!!

Hi, I  also recently had elevated LFT's and an ultrasound that showed my liver is 3x normal size.  I then had a DNA test and found out I am H63D homozygous which causes hemochromatosis in some people. This means I received a gene from both my parents.  I have to get some additional bloodwork to find out if this is what's causing my liver problem since it is the leading cause of cirrhosis in non alcoholics.  From what I've read, even if I don't have hemochromatosis, the H63D gene mutations can cause cirrhosis even if you just have an occasional glass of wine.  I don't have cirrhosis but I'm worried about this getting worse. I would suggest you google Hemochromatosis. The bloodwork suggested (besides LFT's) is an iron panel : serum iron, TIBC, and ferritin level.  A serum iron level alone isn't sufficient for diagnosis.  I'm not an expert on this but I just thought I'd share what I thinking is causing my issues just in case it might help you.

So I got a letter from specialist delaying my appt till November!! Was not happy with this at all so went to my GP. While he was examining me he found my spleen is now enlarged too! He told me my biopsy results on my liver were with in the normal range he is baffled!. He was angry at the hospital for keeping differing my appointment and has wrote to my specialist  for me to be seen ASAP so hopefully we will get to the bottom of things.
