Loneliness

Would be great to chat to others who know what it is like. Not people who wish to give me advice, heard it all before and can work things out for myself. I am not lonely because of being too shy to go out or because of

needing advice on where to go and what to do, it is other circumstances.

Please respond if you know what it is like and would like support and can give it without trying to advise me or make suggestions. Am seeking emotional support not practical advice and wisdom.

I think it's more common than we all think. I think there's a stigma attached to it so often people don't like to express that's how they feel.

One of the snags with loneliness is that pepople the lonely person is either shy and staying at home when they should go out more, or inadequate and needing advice on WHERE to go. Every time I have tried to speak to someone about it I have had this nonsense where they ask me if I have problems with shyness or they start telling me I can go to clubs etc - as if I were a retarded child who needs mother to lead me by the hand because I cannot think and make decisions.

I'm lonely even around people but even worse is the literal loneliness when nobody is even around!

You would find my life impossible then, I am often on my own not with anyone, sometimes for a month or more. The trick is to enjy other things and be busy.

There is more to it than that. If you express that you are lonely to someone you are not close to it makes you vulnerable. I have had at least a dozen instances of people asking me for money saying that I should just pay them if I am lonely. And they were people who were not at all close, hardly knew them, and was not stupid enough to tell them that was how I FELT.
