Looking for a cream for lubrication

Posted , 14 users are following.

Without boring you all with the details my body cant handle any kind of oils, which means I cannot use coconut or emu oil anymore.  I'm looking for something I can use during the day which is fragrance-free, and salicylate free as well.  It is only for lubrication nothing more...If anyone can recommend something that they have used then that would be great.  Remeber it is only for lubrication.

Hi thanks, I had a look and unfortunately this cream is really high in salicylates and other fruits which contain salicylates.  I have a serious allergy to salicylates which are found in fruits and vegetables mainly. Thanks anyway.

Then you might want to try Emu oil.  Not from the plant but the emu.

Hanny, yes I was fine with Emu oil for about two weeks, and then my body reacted to it.  My body doesnt seem to like any kind of oil even when it is free of salicylates.  I have lots of intolerances/allergies and I'm like this with food as well. I'm going to order some shea butter and KY jelly online and see if I can use those...thanks a lot.

Early on in the LS game I noticed that LS wants/needs variety.  I couldn't use one thing for very long or had to switch to something else.  At present I'm doing the same routine all the time and all is well.  I have no explanation for that.

That's a hard one Guppy.  I so depend on coconut oil.  Have used some Emu oil in the past, but that is oil as well.  There is lubrication that is water based, though I forgot the name.  A pharmacy will know.  But the one I had early on in this game was sticky.  And with all the fusing I had that was the last thing I needed.

?Only thing that comes in mind is some form of baby powder, but that is usually scented.  Would a dust of baking soda help you? I'm afraid that I'm just brainstorming.

Hanny, yes its a pain not being able to use these oils anymore..but I react to them..coconut is very high in salicylates. I cant take baking soda or anything really.  I cant do the borax thing either as I have MCS and react to everything lol!

Oh well I suppose I could get a jar of vaseline, it just doesnt glide on very well.

Guppy, I thought that Vaseline is a petroleum product as well.  MCS has to do with not being able to withstand chemicals?  You may have to buy a coconut and process it yourself.  What could have possibly been added to the organic coconut oil?  Or use a leaf from the aloe vera plant?  I'm thinking something that isn't processed, directly from the plant.  ???

Baby powder I think is not safe for vaginal use. Ever

Most importantly baby powder has perfume in it which should never be used near the vulva our vaginas on normal skin let alone skin that has LS Also you need the skin to be moisturised and have a barrier cream on it so that urine will not affect the skin. Baby powder has a drying effect and has no barrier effect. Hope that helps explain

Thank you caroline.  You're right of course, baby powder will not at all work as a barrier.

Hanny, Yes, MCS is when someone cannot tolerate chemicals, airborne, and in foods. All fruit and Veg contain salicylates some higher than others (like spinach) which is a natural chemical and not harmful to most people.  But,  there are people like myself that are unable to handle it.   Coconut contains high levels of salicylate which is why I cannot use it.  Basically, anything that is plant based I can not use because they all contain salicylates.  It makes life difficult at times.

I remember seeing the commercial on T.V. about this as well. I would not use baby powder.

No doubt.  Very difficult.  Can you eat fruit and vegies though?  I can not tolerate spinach very well, or quinoa.  Though it has gotten a little bit better lately.    One meal so very now and then I get away with.

Hope you will find something your skin can tolerate.

Last year I was on a very limited diet, and most fruits and veggies were off the table.  The healthier I ate the sicker I became. However in the last four months, there has been a significant improvement and I am able to eat a reasonable selection of veggies, always with the skin removed though.  Fruits are a problem, I can't really go overboard on them..but really I'm just happy that I now have a selection that I can choose from.

I'm glad you made some progress.  It so hard to be in a situation like that.  Hard on the mind as well.  How the body can turn your whole world upside down.  All of a sudden I could no longer tolerate milk or cheese.  Got sick and nauseated from it, plus it aggravated the LS.  Now I can eat goat cheese.  And some yoghurt.  (of course without sugar)  Over time we may discover slow improvements.  At least I hope that for you.
