Looking for a cream for lubrication

Posted , 14 users are following.

Without boring you all with the details my body cant handle any kind of oils, which means I cannot use coconut or emu oil anymore.  I'm looking for something I can use during the day which is fragrance-free, and salicylate free as well.  It is only for lubrication nothing more...If anyone can recommend something that they have used then that would be great.  Remeber it is only for lubrication.

Have you ever used Hydromol Ointment? I've used it for years. It's a moisturiser and barrier ointment.

I know you say you can't use any oils, but everything that lubes seems to have some type of oil in it. Maybe you can try changing the type of oil to see if that helps. There is castor oil, shea butter, jojoba oil. You can also try making a salve and adding soothing tea to it like calendula. Hope you find something that works! Let us know smile

I am wondering if shea butter might work..I think I will order some..

Most oils dont work for me and not because of my salicylate problem...this seems to be something else, a different intolerance entirely, not sure why that would be but I have tried quite a few oils and after a week I start to react...

I just bought some lanolin from Walmart for $9 in the baby section. It is super thick, you just rub it in your palm to soften it and then apply. I have a fissure on my backside and it has made it feel so much better! Lanolin is made from sheep wool. I highly recommend!

and the ingredients are 100% pure lanolin. I used it when I was breastfeeding and it is so safe that babies can nurse without you having to wipe it off.

      Hi Guppy,

When my son was young, he had a serious problem with excema.  The specialist told us that if you are sensitive to something, like bacon for instance, you can have it occasionally and it won't bother you.  So I'm wondering if you can use a different oil each day of the week.  You could try emu one day, then cold pressed oils such as sunflower or soy the next, then rapeseed and safflower, etc. until you are using 7 different types of oils every week.

Hi Ann, I never thought to try sunflower or soy...I could certainly give them a go..the other oils that I have tried my body rejects them..always..I stop them..and then try again, but nope it never works,  its strange..thank you

Also, there is lanolin. It is used for mothers to put on their nipples for breastfeeding.

    Hopefully, this helps.

Hi Guppy have you tried KY Jelly not sure if it contains salicylate but just a thought  😊

Good question.  The 'KY' jelly that I tried where I live I reacted to but it was not the Brand KY... it was a substitute..I think I will order some online and see If I can use it...thanks

KY jelly is water based so not sure how long that would last and would not act as a barrier I don't think. Good as a lubricant tho for sex i imagine. I used it when i had to use dilators and had no effects from it.

Hi caroline, I realize KY is not going to be something that lasts long but i think with the other suggestions I can alternate them...thanks a lot.

Hi Guppy007. So sorry to hear that oils don't work any more. Have you tried Emuaid? It is not an oil. It's a cream.  It comes in a first aid remedy which works great for me. Also there is Vagisil complete moisturizing gel. I'll check the ingrediients first. Okayi, here goes.  Water, glycerin, propanediol, carbomerhomopolyner, sodium hyaluronatephenethyl , phenethyl  alcohol (oh oh! Alcohol?)ethylhexyglycerin and sodium hydroxide. Hmm. not exactly natural ingredients! But it does work for me very well. It's a gel so it's not oil based.  I hope this can give you some relief, if it sounds safe.  Otherwise vaseline?  Best wishes.
