Had a TKR on 9/7/17 and I am struggling a little - hoping to connwct with others who are in similar situations. Striving to remain positive but I have had a few rough days.

Hope to start driving soon. Walking w/o cane or walker but can’t go too far yet :-(

ROM is 120

Struggling with getting comfortable at night, staying up all day and the emotional aspects of being limited. Joined the forum to connect.

Hi there! Stay positive. You are still early days...your ROM is great! I didn’t drive until 8 weeks (Right TKR)...I remember saying to myself, “what was I thinking doing this?” LOTS of times!! I wasn’t able to lift my leg off of the bed...and then little by little, I did it. Now can go straight up!  Those first few months takes a lot of patience.  Use your pain  meds as needed, lots of icing, and rest. For sleeping....I had to

Prop myself up with pillows for the first while...then I was able to go a bit on my side (the operated side) with a pillow between my legs...and was able to sleep better.  Once you are a little more mobile...try aqua fit classes. Exercises in the water really helps a lot.  Remember where you were before the surgery, and know that it will get better.  I am now 11 months post-op...best thing I ever did!!

This gives me so much hope because I have been thinking - What have I done?

It helps not to be alone of this journey. Thank you.

I think most of us who have had TKR thought  "what have I done"  at sometime . Believe me it is one of the best things I ever did . I would recommend anyone who needs the op to have it , but research the recovery process , don't expect it to be easy . Be prepared to do some hard work it is worth the effort . Don't compare your recovery with anyone else , each person is different , if it takes you say 8 weeks  to get where someone was at 5 weeks , so what . You got there . Watch a few videos of the op on youtube and you will realise what a serious operation it is .

I remember those sleepless nights! I t was the pits when I couldn't get comfortable in bed. I spent all most 3 weeks sleeping in my recliner. It took awhile for me to actually get my knee to where it won't hurt as much.

?I had my tkr on my right knee on Oct. 7 2017. So I am al most 10 weeks out. I sleep on my right side with my right knee slightly bent. That is comfortable for my right nw. I still wake up in pain during the night. It is like an achy pain

Just think you over the worst part ight now

This forum does help. It has helped me. The people here are great

?In the days and weeks to come you won't be so limitless. You will be back in doing your regular routine y soon

I was driving in 6 weeks And walking without a cane in about 7 weeks.

I had my TKR on 9/26/17.  Your not alone when it comes to getting comfortable at night it’s been over a month and I don’t sleep more then 4 hours a night it is emotionally draining.

    It’s 1 AM and I’m wide awake.

I’m walking without a cane PT has definitely helped.

    Hang in there !
