Does the bleeding continue? It is better to check with your doctor. Even a phone call to your doctor is better than nothing. They do phone consultations during covid19.

Hi everyone,
I came across this forum because I have the exact same problem. It was actually quite strange to read the similarities. I am also 27 and have the exact same symptoms. Normal stool at the beginning then the rest just flies out as mush. I had some streaks of bright red blood on the toilet paper for about 4 days but that has subsided. I have a history of anal fissures so I'm pretty sure it was just that. I had a colonoscopy around 2.5 years ago for the anal fissure and I'm confident I recognise the symptoms.
This mushy stool thing has been going on for a long time and I haven't seen my doctor for it because some days my stools are relatively normal. However, I suffer with health anxiety and I'm scared it could be something serious.
Generally, I don't have bloating or gas, I don't have abdominal pain or any other symptoms.
At first, I thought this problem occurred because I eat too much fruit and veg (probably around 5 to 7 portions a day, plus high fibre foods such as brown bread, cereals, brown rice etc) so because of this, I've tried to go on a low fibre diet; yesterday I ate white bread, doughnuts, chips etc. This has only made things worse! (I think the drastic change in diet?).
I suffer a lot with stress and anxiety which I've thought could be a cause.
The anecdote I read about having solid stools while on holiday... The exact same thing happened to me! Completely normal stools after flying and while abroad!
Anyway, just wanted to share my story because I couldn't believe the similarities and hopefully I can gain some reassurance and we can get to the 'bottom' of our mushy stool episodes.

This is insane. I noticed the same to me, whenever I am on holidays or back to home country (since I am an immigrant for the last 5 years) tools become normal as well. I thought this is because the way of cooking and different products. But now it makes sense if you noticed the same thing. As I described above I am always stressed. I get stressed very easily compared to others in the same conditions. Now with this gut issue the stress became even worse, I always thinking if it is something bad. I started believing this like an infinite mind loop of anxiety and we should brake this loop. I started some training with mindfulness.
I also found a medical book in my University's library that describes the link between mind stress and the gut.
The only part that still confuses me is why antibiotics make the condition better. I had an ear infection a year ago they gave me penicilin. During the 5 days course of it stools were perfect. Once I finished it, the diarrhoea started.
This year I had a throat infection they gave me Ciprofloxacin. Again the same story.
Last month I had UTI and gave me Trimethroprim for 4 days. This antibiotic worked even better than the others. The symptoms vanished and stays like this even after the end of the antibiotic course for almost 2 weeks after it.

I am shocked at all these similarities. I stumbled upon this thread after googling my own symptoms.
The photo in the original post is exactly what mine look like. I am also 27 years old.
This change came suddenly and out of nowhere one day, it is now a daily occurrence. My diet is as clean as it gets. I only eat whole foods grown from the earth, lean meat (chicken and turkey only), and fish. I dont eat processed foods, fast food, any food found in the middle aisles of grocery stores, so it cant be diet related I dont think.

Any pain / cramping or discomfort? And have you had any tests so far (stool test for bacteria etc)?

No pain or discomfort at all. It just seems to be my new normal. I havent had tests done because it isnt bothersome, nor does it affect my daily life. Naturally though I googled it out of curiosity.

hi, ive been following this thread too as ive been having the same problem for a few months. i had an abdominal and pelvic ultrasound a few months ago and all was ok but the problems have continued. i have periods wherr mu stools are pretty normal, recently i had nearly 1 month of normal stools every day and it was amazing!! but since tuesday they are loose again and today they were floating. this can happen once every few weeks for me (that they float) do yours ever float?
im also worried its something serious and i suffer from health anxiety too. i think about stools way too much now and i get nervous before i go as im worried they wont be normal!
id love to know if any of you experience them floating as reading this thread seeing everyone with the same problem is reassuring me

Sometimes mine float and they look like little pebbles. I think stress might be a factor although I don't really feel "stressed out".

Hi Everyone,
Just a thought...has anyone tried any probiotic supplements or drinks?
I know they're a bit gimmicky but I've been drinking a probiotic drink for the past few days and my stools are normal. I'm not sure if this is coincidental, a placebo effect or if they're actually working, but it might be worth giving them a try if you haven't already.

I have noticed that eating yogurt does help but haven't tried any specific supplements or drinks. I had a hunch but wasn't sure. Glad to know it works for someone else!

Hello!
I just started reading this forum's messages as I experienced this often/fluffy stool on a daily basis for a while, but haven't seen a doctor to address this yet. I also suffered from anal fissures for years until I followed my proctologist's advice - no more soap to clean the area and no more toilet paper to use. I switched to a baby all over shampoo/unscented soap for sensitive skin and only use wet wipes. The issue is long time gone now! In case of occasional discomfort or itching - Calmoseptine Ointment is a great and helping product.
As for the Hemorrhoids - I finally decided to do a rubber band procedure that is actually working.
And reading all the messages about the same issue I am also having: fluffy/mushy/loose stool daily without any abdominal pain or excessive gas - brings me to the club here. So hopefully we can find a reason and a treatment to this one day soon. I will keep reading and posting. Good luck!

non dairy yogurt works best for me. as does meditation and relaxation. I've noticed, often times the more I think about the gurgling in my stomach, the worse the actual stools become. this is definitely not always the case though. but during periods of stress I also tend to not tolerate various foods (spicy, fatty, acidic) as well as during times when I'm more relaxed. so I think this is larger stress related. does anyone else have health anxiety or ocd? one person mentioned going on vacation for a few days and having the first solid stool in a while, and thinking it was because if the beer. I'd guess it was the beer itself but actually going on vacation, relaxing, and drinking an ice cold beer that did the trick. another mentioned having stools as soon as they got up, I often have those too, especially if it's during a stressful time and/or I've eaten a particularly triggering food.

*edit: I'd guess it was NOT the beer itself, but rather relaxing on vacation with a cold beer

Hi Stef,
Did you get to the bottom of this?
I've had part hard, part loose stools for a long while now and I've suffered with health anxiety for as long as I can remember.
Mr Dr said it could be mild IBS and did a routine blood test and dismissed me.
Lately I've had discomfort in upper abdominal area in the centre and also under left ribcage. I've had nausea and my appetite comes and goes.
It's really freaking me out now!
I hope you're now fine.
Martin
