Losartan Muscle cramps

I have been taking Losartan for 2 weeks now (along with 5mgms of Amlodipine) and have started to suffer from painful muscle cramps. Has anyone else had similar problems as I cannot find anywhere if it's a side effect?

I am taking Losartan for three months.  It started with pain in my right knee which I assumed being related to the new chair for my computer.  My pain radiated to the hip, lower leg and right foot.  Then I started having cramps in the legs (both legs)  I am taking Pottassium and Vitamin D, but the pain seen to be spreading and gettign worst.  I talked with my Doctor and he decreased the dosage two days ago....  This situation is hindering my ability to exercise, walk on the treadmill, and other things... not to mention the pain and numbness.

I'm getting really bad muscle cramps in my calfs.  I assume it is from losartan now that I read this.  Guess I will discuss with doctor.  Amlodipine caused me to itch all over and I would scratch my skin and it would cause dark ugly bruises.  Off that stuff.  Who would have thought you could have so many darn side effects from these crazy medications.

I was taking Losartan HCL & have been having bad calf & thigh cramps almost nightly, disrupting my sleep for 1-1/2 yrs. My potassium & magnesium levels were normal. Finally, doctor changed my rx to plain Losartan. Instant relief! It's only been 5 nights but what a relief...no cramps!

Thank you ... my doctor acted like I was the first one whoever complained .. he switched my meds .. still miserable. I’m trying to fix with diet.  Since I already exercise a lot and eat right, all I can do is eliminate salt. I also stopped taking hormone replacement thinking that might help . So far... no miracles .  I just can’t walk around feeling that way .

If you cannot find it anywhere as a side effect, it most likely isnt a side effect. There are other ways you can assess yourself to find side effects and the cause of this issue.

2 years ago I was prescribed 25 mg of Amlodopine. In the middle of the 2nd day I got stomach cramps so severe I ended up in A&E. I stopped the medication immediately and decided to take beetroot juice and a magnesium supplement. This worked until an extremely stressful personal situation caused my BP to shoot up. I have now been prescribed Losartan 25mg. Even this small dose after 2 months is now causing severe shoulder pain at night, waking me up and stopping me sleeping. When I see the level of medication some are taking, and even two different products I am not in the least surprised people's lives are being ruined by pain. When I lived abroad GPs considered that a higher BP in older patients was nothing to worry about, so if I'm 170/80 I'll take my chance with the BP rather than be in pain. Someone saying 130 is too high is ridiculous. Remember doctors get a premium for all the drugs they prescribe. Also the more jabs the more money.
