Losing Weight Coming Off Mirtazapine

Has anyone else had a problem with weight loss when stopping Mirtazapine? I don't have an appetite, and feel sick at the stomach, and have lost 10 pounds. I am beginning to worry that it may be something else going on.

    hello.

i use to be really Skinny 7st 5 or so. (im short) i was a little underweight.

I've been on Mitazapine for a number of years - nearly 2 - and I've gone up to 11stone 9 - and I'm not happy about my weight. i do exercise, i do a lot of fell walking, and i have started biking and walking more and been on a diet (that has helped)

I want to come off Mitazapine - will my weight gain drop off again?

    Hi,

I just wanted to share my own experience tapering off mirtazapine. I was on the max dose in the US, 45mg, and have tapered down every 2 weeks (30, 22.5, 15, 11.25). I am currently at 7.5mg. I have been doing this while also on a ketogenic diet, and I think this has been key to staying stable with only very mild withdrawal effects. I think something about your brain primarily using ketones as energy is very stabilizing. I had tried previously to taper off mirt on a normal carb diet with no success. Almost immediately, I felt intense withdrawal symptoms and had to return to my regular dose.

I also take the following supplements to support my brain health: Omega-3, MCT oil, Vitamin D, Vitamin B Complex, Curcumin, ALA, BDNF, and GABA.

As I continue to taper down and go off it completely, I plan to also start using CBD and perhaps even CBG, to see if there is any therapeutic benefit. I hope this helps.

I also take Mirtazapine and have gained lots of weight while I am on it. When I started I weighed 124 pounds now I weigh 198 pounds!! Oh how I hate this drug. I just found out it was the reason for my weight gain so I'm going to stop taking it one way or another. I failed to mention that I've been on this drug for 7 long years. I don't know why my pcp didn't tell me about how you gain weight with this terrible drug.

I am trying to come off this terrible drug but the withdraws are terrible. I am going to ask my pcp to help me come off this. I hope by doing this I will lose the 60 pounds I gained while I am on this drug Mirtazapine.
