Lower back issues

Had problems with lower back for over 40 years.
Having an assessment this Thursday at hospital. Bad lower back and burning pain on rear upper legs when sitting and tail bone pain. Hoping to get an MRI scan at some point. Taking dual pain killers daily and a diazepam occasionally as doc said it would help relax the muscles there.
Will report back after I been to hospital.

Ive been having back and Hip pain for 8 months. It would hurt while sitting and standing too. I had a very low tolerance to sit. There was pain down my right leg that showed symptoms of sciatica but an MRI ruled out a possibility of that. But then what was causing the pain. 7 Months later after going through so much pain i got bad heel pain and the doctor said it might all be sign of Vitamin Deficiency. Now im on treatment for it so isuggest you to please do a blood test and check your Vitamin D and calcium levels. i hope this would help you in some way. i;m sorry about the pain you are going through.

Every day I take painkillers in work. Co Codimol.
Got to see hospital In 2 weeks. I don't hold out much hope. I can only see it getting worse! Biggest worry is being able to support myself financially. Working at the mo. Not sure how long I can keep working!

Back REALLY hurting today! Taken 3 lots of painkillers today and still hurting.
Thinking of changing my mattress too as it's only a cheap. I spend all my spare time on it as me and wife divorced and I am in my room on my own while we sell our house. I don't think the mattress is helping!
Any ideas about what mattress is good for bad backs?

Low back pain is a universal human experience -- almost everyone has it at some point. The lower back, which starts below the ribcage, is called the lumbar region. Pain here can be intense and is one of the top causes of missed work. Fortunately, low back pain often gets better on its own. When it doesn't, there are effective treatments.

Refering me for an MRI but they said that i will need pain management and gentle stretching! Obviously no cure. They think Scan wont show up anything but doing it to investigate a bit more.

is this the first MRI you've ever had on your lower back? you've been hurting for 40 years... during that time what kind of treatments have you tried? I've only been hurting for 13 years and I've tried about everything. It is somewhat satisfying to get an MRI that shows a reason for the pain. I do not have that. Well not too much anyway. Fortunately my pain management doctor believes that I hurt and is willing to treat me. I wish you success with your lower back issues and at least relieving you of a little bit of your pain.

I have tried various things like some physio, chiropractor, stretching, massage and different painkillers.
