LS... or a bacteria infection?

imageimageI just turned 21 but have had the small white bumps around my lady parts since before puberty. the white bumps dont itch at all. however, the white skin patches do. since I can remember, I developed a red line along the outside of my vagina and it would itch like crazy as a kid. obviously I was very young and it was several years before I even had sex. so I'm ruling out herpes etc... any idea if this looks like LS or maybe a bacteria infection of some kind? it was just within the past 2-3ish years that the red line grew into a large white spot. my skin on that side of my vagina is also larger than the other side. and now it's now my butt hole too. I feel like everything I read says LS is less common in pre menopause woman... and I just think it would be weird that I got it around the age of 8 or something... so maybe a bacteria infection? I've done a lot of research about LS and so many people were saying that after a while the steroid cream they prescribe to you doesnt work. I heard a lot of good things about Terrasil so I have started to use that this past week or so. It definitely has helped with the itching. but it isnt completely clearing up.

Im going to get a dr appointment soon - I just dont feel like going through a hundred things before finding out. it sounds like people have had a nightmare trying to get a diagnosis from a doctor.

Dear Jess, HI I'm now 74 and only discovered my LS a couple years ago. I have read years worth of messages on this site and have learned that children as young as 3 get diagnosed with LS. So yes, my guess is that you indeed have been dealing with this since childhood.

Now, you really should look into finding a vulval specialist or a dermatologist who specializes in the anogential area. What we've heard is that the dermatologists often recognize LS more than the gynecologists even.

YOu might like to read up on the nutritional aspects of any autoimmune disease I researched this last year and it really helps - no itch etc. Just click on my name and find the discussions tab. Many Blessings, dearheart.

thank you so much Nancy! I've noticed since i stopped shaving the area the white spot has significantly gone away today. I was looking at linear cuts, because from the best of memory (being I was so young) I remember it starting off as a red line and then turned white over time. so maybe it is due to drying my skin out from shaving. I literally shave at LEAST once a day down there. I know it's TMI but I've always hated stubble from a young age - and this appeared after I started shaving around 8 years old. I shave sometimes 2-3 times a day down there too - which is probably waaay too much for such sensitive skin. I'm going to stop using scented soaps and shaving for a few weeks to see if it goes away.

I was also thinking today that the itchy white spot around my butt hole (ew sounds so gross lol sorry!) started to appear a few months after shaving there last year. so, maybe it's aggravation from shaving so damn much.

if it doesnt completley disappear I will definitely schedule an appointment to have it looked at.

and I will keep this thread updated in case it can help someone else.

Oh Jess dearheart my goodness - from my 74 year old point of view our pubic hairs are part of our god-given wholeness and anatomy. You young people might want to reconnect with your bodies as they were made. I don't know how many weeks of itchy stubble it will take until that itch stops but surely it will grow back and the area will be more protected.

Oh, and by the way, I was first alerted to my LS because of an itchy anus and found about LS through googling that.

I have never used a steroid to mange LS but have gotten extremely interested in following a healthy lifestyle. For each of us it is slightly different. I don't do sugar or dairy any more except special treats. Others on her have said it is wheat or gluten that causes irritation.BUt dearheart, this is definitely an autoimmune disease which is lifelong. What I mean is I suggest that there is no point in waiting to get officially diagnosed by finding an informed medicalpractitioner of some sort. blessings, Nancy in NOrth Carolina.

I want to keep this thread updated for my own personal track record and in case it helps someone else.

okay, so I've been shaving at least once a day since 8 years old and honestly sometimes 2-3x a day. I know, way too much.

I am NOT yet saying I've figured it out or ruled out LS. I still want to go get checked out but I'm trying a few things first.

So I stopped shaving the past few days and now just shaved to see if I spotted any progress. and honestly, the area is a LOT less dry and the white spots seem to be going away drastically.

I dont think this is a random coincidence because the white spots have been about the same size for the past few months.

here are my new pics so you all can view my "progress".

imageimagestill not saying I've figured it out but I'll keep this thread updated. imageimage

Looks like you have a bit of discharge at the opening.. Could be a thrush. maybe get a swab done at doctors.
