Ls paladin cream

Hi

I was wondering if any of you ladies have tried paladin cream? I believe it is available to buy in the uk now.

I would love to know if this is truly effective or if not paladin then anything that helps to take out the redness and sore areas.

I am 51 years old and have had Ls for about 15 years my condition worsening all the time. I use the dermovate twice weekly and more with flare ups.

I am looking for an additional cream to use along side of the dermovate and to restrain from using the dermovate as much.

If you would like to try something more natural...but that works well...try spraying the area with witch hazel, dab dry and apply 98% to 100% aloe vera gel. Both healing, moisturizing and soothing. Also, 15% or higher Manuka honey put on the areas at night time with cotton panties. It is well know by the medical society that Manuka honey has amazing healing abilities. It is expensive, but a small jar lasts a long time.  I just use a cotton swab to take a little out and then smooth it over all areas. This helps with healing, itching and reducing any thickening of the skin. Give it a try...I don't believe you will regret it.

Hi Karen I've had 2 lots of letz to get rid of pre cancerous cells on the cervix I know they say LS is not inside the vj but I'm convinced this is connected jx

      Hi justine

I am convinced it's connected I had same as you for pre cancer in cervix and a short time after my dentist diagnosed me with lichen planus that was about 13 years ago it's much worse now I am 57 and I think going through the menopause also doesn't help because the cells are not repaired the same. The itching drives me mad. How old are you justine and when did you have treatment fir precancer xx

From what my specialist informed me the ls when present can cause pre-cancerous cells on the smear test.  That has always confused me as I thought ls did not affect inside the vagina.  Lots of people have mentioned having abmornal smear results when suffering ls. I no longer have to worry about cervical cancer as to be sure I had a total hysterectomy.  It is too painful now for an internal exam.  I just have to hope that I do not develop a problem in my vagina.

      Hi Chrissy

Did you have precancerous cells before your hysterectomy and how long ago X

    • Posted

Yes,  I was 50 at the time and just starting to go through menopause.  I had a colposcopy (A biopsy of the servix) after the first abnormal smear then a second colposcopy following a subsequent 2nd abnormal smear.  I decided to have the hysterectomy as I no longer wanted/ or probably could even have children, rather than worry all the time.  I am now 59.  My ls was diagnosed about 4-5 years later although I now know I probably had it from my teenage years intermittently throughout my life.  It prgressed dramatically following my hysterectomy.

I'm 57 Chrissy and I know how you feel it's an absolute nightmare bloody scratching all the time even my scalp Iv just got some shampoo from the doctor I really don't think anything shifts it but the sweating also aggravates it X

I'm 45 and in Perimenapause which has made things much worse. 1st time I had pre c cells I was 25 2nd time I was 40. But if I have a smear it always says extreme imflamation, which I think is connected to LS, only time will tell and more research.

On top of all the problems I have with Ls I am at present suffering vertigo which the doctors think is most likely a side effect of some medication I am taking.  They are being very good and I had a brain scan yesterday, results on Friday, to rule out anything more serious.  I feel a bit like why me?  I just have to remind myself that others are worse off.  I hope the shampoo works for you as well.

Hi just an update Karen.  Good news.  No tumours or any other problems with my brain so it is most likely the medicine.  As I take the medicine for angina I have to go back to see my consultant but in the meantime I am stopping it under doctors supervision for 7-10 days to see if the vertigo stops.  I am so relieved.   Thanks for your interest.

Hi,  All calm today.  Vertigo is settling.  On medication for that.  Taking the beta blockers for my angina again as the vertigo didn't stop when I came off them.  Although when it starts it usually takes 6-8 weeks to settle.  I have had no further attacks in my mouth and ls has calmed down also.  So all in all things are much better.  Glad the cradle cap shampoo helped, itchy head drives me made.  Have you tried the Gengi gel mouth wash to help calm things down.  It is expensive about £8 a bottle but is very good.  Read the leaflet inside it is quite informative.  It is recommended following mouth surgery.  I used it for my daughter when she had glandular fever and tonsilitus.  She said it was the only thing that helped.  Good luck

      Hi Chrisy

Hope your keeping well just wondered how you are with vertigo and headaches, I have had headache for the last two days and my mouth has been a bit of a problem wish I could resist the sweet stuff I think I need to try harder Xx

Hi Karen,  I am feeling better, vertigo improving and no headaches. Thanks for asking. I have been dieting and have lost 9.5 lbs over the last five weeks.  Slowly.  I have cut out bread, scones etc which is my big problem.  Not sweet but savoury.  I found out years ago that if you eat something sweet you seem to crave sweet things so I cut out sugar and most sweet stuff made with sugar.  I usually eat fresh fruit and use sweetners.  Found that when I am hungry I eat protein and the hunger goes, if I eat sweet stuff or carbs I can't stop eating and then binge.

I have a flare up of ls at the moment and visited the GP today as I am having difficulty peeing, (my urethra seems to be closing slowly).  I have to go back to treating daily for a month.  I am on instructions to return if it gets any worse.  I must admit I am quite afraid that if it does I will have to be cut down there.  I know that trauma down there always causes me problems. Time will tell.  She said she will refer me back to the dermatologist if it gets any worse.

      Hi Chrisy

You have done really well with your dieting thats great, think I need to do something I'm worse at night watching TV, eating sweets and cakes not only is it putting weight on me but my mouth starts then

Oh god that's something else now with LP closing up down there let's hope it's just a small procedure, us women go through enough let me know how you get on. I think the narrowing of the vagina starts after the treatment for abnormal cells, at least we are all together Chrisy and have each other to chat with xx

She thinks the Clobetasol will help open things up again, (I'm not so confident).  I have to see her in a month.  Fingers crossed.

I will keep everything crossed for you Chrisy she sounds positive so maybe it will work Xx
