Lump in throat which goes when I burp

Hi I am sure this is the same as most people on here, but recently started to have a painful lump in my throat, when I touch the base of the throat it feels really sore and I feel like I need to burp and once I do the pain eases off considerably. I feel sore in the chest area and have suffered with gerd/acid for most of my life on esomeprazole recently asked to decrease dose from 20mg to 40mg but since the symptoms told to go back, until I read a lot of the things on here was convinced I have oesohpogeul cancer although GP said as I had a scope within 10 years highly unlikely and I can eat and not being sick. I have just had a chest infection and that is like the pain I still feel like I have burnt inside throat and down into chest area. It does not go with gaviscon but only when I burp as it feels like a big bubble. I am going to try probiotics and alkaline water as mentioned in the forums, my main reason for posting is that other people say their throat is not painful where mine is especially when I press it, does anyone have this pain.

Hey guys i have this too, constricted throat lump feeling etc. But i also wake up with a sore throat and can feel a change in my vocal cords which won't go away. Almost like a hoarse voice. Has anyone else experienced this i would really like to know. Kind of like when you're voice changes. I have finally been referred to ent, but it's a 3 month waiting list. Help please

Did you come up with any solutions? My wife is just now going through this as we speak and worried? She feels like there is a lump in her chest not so much her throat. Hurts to cough and uncomfortable feeling. It comes and goes and subsides. Like when you swallow wrong a bug gulp and a big gulp of air goes down and feels uncomfortable. Hope you can help.

I just want to thank everyone involved in this discussion for putting my mind at rest. I've been feeling terrible for two weeks now with acid reflux and a lump in my throat. I have a gastroscopy booked for next week and had convinced myself that I have oesophageal cancer, but maybe I don't? Thanks to all of you for telling me that I am not alone and giving me courage and hope! X

I noticed you posts are 3 years old, so I don’t know if you will see this....but I wanted to share with you and others who may have some breathing difficulties with Acid Reflux.  Make sure it is not your heart.  If it is not your heart, then this is what my Dr. told me.  He said that when we do eat spicy and or foods with Acid including most fruits, the vapors in the stomach from the food back up and cause the breathing problem because the vapors can go into the lungs which is dangerous.

I wonder if the sensation of the throat tightening can be from the esophagus becoming narrow.  I have heard of cases where they have to go in and expand it.

People swear that apple cider vinegar mixed with honey and water cures Acid Reflux.  I would be afraid to try that seeing the vinegar is acidic and the vapors from that could be dangerous.  I gave up carbonated drinks a long while ago and now the attacks are less frequent.Still have the attacks and when it does start, the pain is horrible and extends to my ear.  Weird...I know.

I am sorry each of you are going through this.  I have been going through it for some time.  I was refereed to a heart doctor because my lung Doctor said it wasn't my lungs.  Then sent to a thyroid Doctor because it wasn't my heart.  Unable to get a deep breath and dropping tons of weight got down to a size 2 115 to 117 pounds looked awful I am  5 5" tried cutting out certain foods due to everything made me feel asthmatic , it was awful .  Then went back to lung Doctor who placed me in Hospital gave me steroids breathing treatments and antibiotics.  This was bad it didn't seem to help much.  I went and pulled my records and the lung Doctor had stated I had COPD emphysema and chronic Bronchitis.  I cried like a baby this was coming from the lung Doctor that sent me to the heart doctor , that said it wasnt my lungs.  I go to a specialist out of town 2 1/2 hours away do test to find out I do not have COPD I do however have emphysema like to very small minute scars on lungs that have been there for 6 years and never changed could have been there since I was a child, but going off a ct scan from 6 years ago.  This is how long these issues have bothered me. The Doctor said I may however have acid reflux and if I get that under control the symptoms may go away.  I hate taking any kind of medication so this was a big step for me.  I am taking raintadine 150 mg once to twice a day and I have felt so much better.  I still sometimes have a small spell but nothing like it was.  Just recently I started feeling a lump in my throat when i belch or drink something cold it comes and goes but praise the lord I can breath so I'll deal with it till I get to the gastroligest on Dec. 29th. I will try keep you posted on what they tell me, but in mean time I hope each of you find a solution, this is a crazy thing to have and can cause so many issues.  I am now up to 131 pounds and feeling pretty good to most parts.  I am 47 years of age female in pretty good shape, could be in better shape but work a lot so not much time for myself.  I have a 8 year old she keeps us on our  toes.  I did have a spirometry test done and it was good that is how they determined I did not  have Copd . Just want each of you to always get a second opinion when it comes to your health.  May God bless each of you in finding out a solution Will try to post updates soon as I can remember after test  Thank You
