Lymph node pain

how long did everyone have lymph node pain? I've been having stabbing/weird pains in my throat, armpit and groin lymph nodes for at least 6 weeks now. I do have swollen lymph nodes also. I am so stressed and depressed because of all this. it goes away for a few days then comes back. I'm waiting for blood test results for Cmv and EBV but until then I can't help but feel like there's something way worse wrong with me 😦 my lymph nodes didn't swell until a few weeks into this and I feel like everyone else's did straight away which makes me stress even more that maybe it is something worse 😦

My throat didn't hurt in the beginning at all. It never truly did during either. It took awhile for my lymph nodes to swell. They still do, from time-to-time. Its been nearly 6 months since my first symptoms of mono. It's turned my life upside down but my brain fog has mostly lifted, my fevers are over, and I don't have abdominal pain anymore. Everyone said on this site, just ride it out and they are correct. I'll list everything I took because I truly believe it helped me.

    Empty Stomach:

Alpha Lipoic Acid, Lysiene, Probiotic, Milk Thistle

    Full Stomach:

Vitamin C, Cortisol Manager, Vitamin D

I drank at least 100 oz of water a day w/ pedialyte powder.

how long after your symptoms did you get tested?

Oh Sam I really empathise, for me I seemed to have different phases where one week or month I could be bothered with lymph node pain in one area, i.e. chest, and then next phase it could be somewhere different like the armpits or groin. It's so frustrating. The one which bothered me most was the one in the neck, which took a number of months to resolve, but don't panic because these aches and pains do settle down and go completely - it sounds like you are going through the worst phase of this at the moment Sam, where just getting through each day is so tough, but remember you will come out this and this will pass, even though I know that doesn't help much when in the midst of it.

Thinking about you and let us know how you get on with your test results.

I'm just so stressed out 😦 I want to know what's wrong with me. not knowing is the hardest part. if I knew it was mono at least I would know what I'm feeling is normal. I'm going back to the doctor on Monday and I'm really HOPING it is mono. otherwise there's something really wrong with me 😦

Hi Sam, my lymph nodes didn't swell straight away either & as time has gone on I've found lymph node swellings in different areas.

I understand your stress around not knowing what is wrong as I was in a similar position, I initially had a negative glandular fever screen & then further blood tests (which took some time) confirmed I had ebv & cmv viruses.

I hope you get your results soon & start to feel better.

i didn't realize someone might have both cmv and ebv. the mono spot tests they did in office were positive both times. the bloodwork they did after the first one was negative for ebv. I am not sure if they check for cmv at the same time. I think the first one was too early. But we haven't had another one drawn.

How long have you been dealing with this?

It all started with hot flushes and debilitating fatigue about 8 weeks ago. then i had a really mildly sore throat just for 3 days in the morning upon waking. I've had all sorts of weird twitching mainly on the left side of my body. then sore joints, bad muscle pains (felt like pulled muscles)- really really sore neck that lasted 2 or 3 weeks, absolutely no appetite what so ever. my period has become super light and only lasts 2 days instead of the usual 4 days. headaches, another sore throat. stabbing pains in all my lymph nodes. swollen lymph node in left armpit, 1 on each side of my groin. 2 in my throat. 😦

thank you Gill. I have an appointment tomorrow to get my results. hopefully they are back by then. I'm struggling. I have a 1yo and a 3yo and trying to look after them during all this has been so so hard.

Hi, yes it is possible! All as a result of taking a sip of my friend's drink, I will never share a drink again!

I started with symptoms mid Sept 2018 but I am recovered now thankfully!

Hi Sam, I genuinely feel for you as it's hard to find time to recover when you have children to look after (I have an 8 year old).

Thinking of you & hope you feel better soon x

oh geez...i really hope you get some relief soon! I went back and looked at his labs. They only tested for ebv. 09/24/18....symptoms went away for a while and then started back up in april...now with the lymphnode. well there was something going on in december too..what the heck... Since it isnt happening to me, I can't speak for all of his symptoms. And since he is 16, all I get is I'm fine mom!

how long did yours last? my son's started in september also! he got better, but then sick again. ugh.

The acute fever symptoms lasted around 4 weeks & then other symptoms like tiredness, on & off dizziness, swollen & painful glands lasted until around April.I hope your son feels better soon, I think it's pretty common to have relapses in the 1st year.

thanks gill. That does make me feel better. The doctor didn't seem terribly concerned when we were there last week. He was perfectly fine then though. 2 days later is when the symptoms popped back up. I go back and forth being okay with it and freaking out. I just want the answers to be perfectly clear. But, apparently this sickness doesn't always have predictable behavior. Even though the doctors want to tell you it does. Which makes it that much scarier when yours doesn't follow their descriptions. It seems there are a lot of gray areas and I like black and white.

I completely agree. My doctor told me it lasts 4-6 weeks, think this forum proves it definitely doesn't & GP's don't seem to understand this virus!

I was pretty much fatigued the entire time but sometimes I would get severe fatigue where I'd just need to go to bed straight away. My body would warn me I'd done too much as I'd get a pain in my spleen or achy lymph nodes, as soon as I felt that I'd rest up.
