Major intolerance to heat

Hi everyone, I wondered if anyone has also developed an intolerance to heat? (Artifical heat mainly)

I'm experiencing many awful symptoms on and off throughout the day and night but as soon as I walk into a stuffy/poorly ventilated or overheated place (can be a car, bus, office, shop, bank etc) within minutes I'm overcome by the awful dizziness anxiety trembling feeling fatigue shortness of breath and tightness in my chest feelings.

I can have a relatively good day, feeling good and positive like yes I can get through this menopause then on same day I can walk in a hot shop and within seconds I feel totally awful and scared by the rush of all these symtoms at once and if I stay in such a place for too long it takes hours for my system to calm down again. I'm on HRT which stopped the hot flushes/sweats but I still get this major issue...for a year and a half now (as well as other issues)

I wondered if anyone else experiences this issue with heat?

    Hi Liz, yes I experienced this exact symptom and I wasn't on HRT. I'd go into a bathroom and put cold water on me with cold wet towels until I was able to calm down. Then I discovered some pre-moisten cold mint towelettes my cousin gave me that worked great to cool me down. Maybe you can find something similar. They're for menopause

    Maybe they're called cooling towelettes. Name starts with a p. Hope this helps

    Oh btw, do not use it in the genital area.

      Hi..I haven't heard of those before...that's brilliant will try them defintely thanks so much...nothing I do seems to work and I go to extreme lengths to try and sort my system out. Thanks again.

      Liz, I'm discovering that Chia seeds settle hormonal.imbalance

      You can a drink with it that works for me. You can yt it or put in your food or salad

      As long as you consume a tablespoon or 3 a day it should level off your hormones

      Ah, I've been eating other seeds but not tried Chia..will get some great thanks. I found out this week that cucumber is good at reducing internal heat so I've just started eating loads of those 😊

      Liz, I've also been taking Chia seeds in water making juice. You can yt it or you can eat 3 tablespoons of in food. It doesn't need to be cooked. Okay, hope this helps.

    Yes, I get this and I'm not on HRT.  It's really tricky because I work in different places all the time - offices, conference centres, hotels and I have no control over the heating or ventilation so it's very, very difficult to cope with. My colleagues and clients probably think I'm an oversensitive pain in the arse.  I get really panicky when I get too hot, especially if there's no way to open a window.

      Me too! Every day at work is filled with ways to avoid being in their heated office for too long...even with a large fan blowing on me...I try and keep window open but everyone else is cold so I end up going to a small room on my own where I can open windows...or make extremely regular trips to the ladies which is lovely and cold...also get nervous when I go to meetings as never know how hot their office will be. Extremely hard to cope with...winter is worse as everyone has their heating on full blast...can't wait for this to pass!

    PS: forgot to say that I've spent the rest of my life feeling too cold - layers of thermal underwear, big thick jumpers, huddling up to radiators - so it's really freaky to have gone way off in the other direction.

      Tell me about it...it's just so baffling to me how hormones can have such an awful effect on our bodies..still trying to work out why nature deals us this card have we not been through enough as women!

    I had this issue one spring/summer, but it was more to do with the sun than anything.  I couldn't even go from my house to the car.  I will never forget it, it was awful!  The heat would envelope me in such a crushing way that I felt very ill for months.  I used a lot of wet bandnanas wrapped around my head and wet scarves around my neck to ward it off.  The only time I felt good was when I was at the beach in the water.

    And I too was a freezer before then.  I loved the sun before that summer.  I still can't take the heat well, but that summer was memorable I tell you.  I was weak and dizzy and sick to my stomach full time.

      It really is awful isn't it...I literally thought I was the only person going through this and must be the result of 20 years in a stressful job. I bring ice packs to work and freezer eye mask but melts quickly...I hate having to avoid day to day things as much as I can...like going to shop to get lunch. I have to plan every minute of every day around this..I now walk to work which takes 1.5 hours as can't bear transport. Also if I try and talk when I'm going through it my chest gets worse

      Yes, just awful sad

      Although I don't think it's our fault ... I do think stress causes it to be worse , built up or current stressors .... i believe some of us are made that way lol .... I envy the ones who have a smooth ride through all this hormonal mess lol

      Yes makes sense that it would do...especially an accumulation over years. I know, of the few people I've confided in they've never known anyone experience it as badly as I am...thank goodness for this site as it's the first time I can speak to other ladies who genuinely understand as they are walking in the same shoes as me. As much as I hate to know others suffering like I am , it's a real support x

      I am positive that past stressors and present make this a much worse experience for some.
