Mammogram fears

Hi Ladies,

I've been on HRT for ai while now, ive noticed that my breasts have become very tender. so much so that ive had to start wearing a padded bra because my nipples are so sensitive..

to add this im getting a creamy like discharge from both nipples.

my Gp has arranged a mammogram for me this Friday. its my first one and im quite worried about the test. my breasts are so tender i dont know if i can stand them being flattened for the screening.

can any of you ladies advise on the mammogram screen and how painful it actually is and how long it lasts

im very nervous

hi diane please dont worry i couldnt touch my boobs they were that painful and my gp found 5 lumps my mum had breast cancer 4 years ago and was diagnosed on my birthday, my app for a mammogram came through for my birthday 15 jan so my anxiety was through the roof. my app took a couple of hours but the mammogram lasted minutes and even though my boobs hurt that much it wasnt sqished that much to hurt them more and thankfully the lumps and pain are just part and parcel of menopause so goodluck for fri and big hugs xx

I was scared to get my first mammogram done, I finally got it done 2 weeks ago. It was not bad at all, there was discomfort but not painful. I agree with others, it takes longer to prep you versus the test itself which takes few seconds. you'll be done before you know.
