Won't be a lot of us - it isn't legal in the UK except for very specific things and PMR isn't one. It is legal here but I can't afford it! You will almost certainly find this discussion deleted once the moderator gets back - attempts have been made to discuss it before.

Really will the moderator delete this !!?? surely a discussion about this subject would be permissable especially as legality is not an issue in some countries now and here in Australia - as in many other places there are moves towards greater appropriate use of medical marijuana (ie with psychotropic elements removed). Not advocating anything here but this is a subject which obviosly needs greater consideration in relation to innumerable conditions.

Had this discussion couple of years ago with my doctor when in so much pain, she said it does work for some patients , but is only prescribed for MS.....big article in daily paper today.....

I've never tried it but my mother was in a lot of pain from Polymyalgia 20 years ago. My late husband worked on a ferry that went to Belgium and got her some. She swore by it. As Eileen says it's illegal here so wouldn't go there. My mother was 70 at the time and we laughed that she was the old hippy. Unfortunately I now understand her pain.

Forgot to say - I think mimi has tried it. I do know a couple of people have said that they find it helps but aren't sure whether it REALLY does anything with the pain - or whether they don't care as much. lol

I haven't tried THC for PMR, but do use CBD (oral capusle form), and it's the only thing that's helped besides the prednisone. CBD is also derived from cannabis but doesn't get one high, and is quasi-legal in California.

I've made the oil out of it. I've used it on a bandage which I stuck to the inside of my wrist and that did help but not as good as ingesting it. I now take a teaspoon of oil (on a piece of bread) and find it helps alot with pain and I don't get any high from it which suits me fine. I have Fibromyalgia along with PMR which can be a whole lot of pain and the oil definitely takes down the pain!

are you ingesting the oil that you get in the health food stores as a food supplement or  is the oil from the capsules?

The oil is coconut oil that I've heated the cannabis gently in and then leave it to infuse, this is the oil I ingest. Cannabis isn't legal here (Ireland) so i just do for myself and thankfully have found it very effective😌

Well it appears that I'm not a very good judge of what is going to get moderated or not but I thought it perhaps not a good idea to talk about something which is illegal in your jurisdiction, but obviously my concern was misplaced.  I personally have no problems with open discussion of this medication but half of what I've said seems to have been moderated and I have no idea why.  I should just mind my own business.

You don't need to mind your own business😀 I appreciate where you were coming from, and appreciate the comment and actually was surprised it wasn't moderated either!! It's a great discussion but yes, there seems to be anomalies what's moderated and what's not!! As long as the local constabulary don't peep in on the discussion I hopefully won't get into any trouble😉 Stay well x
