Menopause! Fatigue, crying, aching, nauseous, headaches

Posted , 121 users are following.

Sitting here crying...... again! Feeling awful.  Woke up this morning feeling nauseous and aching legs.  Went for a run on Monday.  Still recovering.  Had hoped to go again yesterday but felt awful.  Tired all the time.  Anxious about everything.  Putting on weight but can't stop eating.  Had various tests - all ok, including colonoscopy and mammogram.  Worried myself silly in the run up to Christmas ..... Virtually read myself the last rights.  Have no confidence.    Awful temper.  Nagging....... Sick of hearing myself rant on to my 12 year old son.  What will help.  I've read about B6, is B-50 worth a try (Holland and Barrett)?

Would love to know how evertbody is doing? I'm suffering badly and I'm only 35. Haven't had Peri confirmed but I have all the symptoms-lift periods and becoming irregular. All other tests ok.

Hi everyone, have only just found this site and am so glad I did. Have most of the symptoms listed by others, the most debilitating is the constant nausea, headaches, lightheadedness, gastro issues and fatigue. Have put on just over a stone in weight and have never had an issue with my weight. My bladder feels weak. Suffer with anxiety and constantly thinking something bad will happen especially to my children. I also have imagined having all kinds of awful diseases. I am 46 but symptoms started with migraines when I was 38. Also feel like a hypocondriac as have been to GP so many times and had so many tests, all negative apart from raised billirubin. Have had 2 FSH tests done over last 8 years, both normal so told its not menopause. Have given up with my GP as they just look at me as if to say what do you expect me to do for you! Have the mirena coil fitted and still get breakthrough spotting every 3 to 4 weeks but can vary. My moods are awful and all over the place, I worry constantly about everything and when I go anywhere. I do Pilates and go to the gym but feel like it doesn't help much. Have tried different supplements without any success. Just wondering how much longer this can go on for, it just never seems to end, just feel ill constantly. Having read all your comments I am reassured that I am not going mad and that hopefully it will all improve one day.

Your symptoms sound exactly like mine. Started at 39 and still going on at 44. I regularly deal with my issues by reading posts of women going through the same problems (helps keep my anxiety from spiralling out of control). The nausea and lightheadness/dizziness are the worst for me. I haven't found a miracle cure but acknowledging to myself that these symptoms are totally normal as our hormone concentrations bounce around non-stop does help. I've also been frustrated with GPs who don't get it and act like you're crazy because blood work looks fine to them so symptoms must be in your head. Hang in there and go with whatever eases your symptoms (even if it's just a minor improvement). :-)

Am so glad I found this forum and have been able to read everyone's stories!

So amazing to find out I'm not alone in the misery and pain of Peri. I'm 45 and have been having symptoms , hot flashes, night sweats aches for 4 years with the last 7 months being the worst ever.

Feeling like an old decrepid lady like everyone describes , aching limbs, back hips ankles knees , struggle to walk up the stairs.

For 2 1/2 weeks each month I am in the throes of what I believe to be peri hell! Blood tests normal, US scan showing a large 5.6 cm cyst on ovary, fibroids and thickening of womb lining. Horrendous pain that just drains me, nauseau, bloating stomach like I'm having twins (never had children) night sweats, anxiety that is out of this world!

I totally get how it makes you feel like you are going crazy as the Drs (I've seen 4) say blood tests fine etc etc

I'm on proponal for anxiety now as it's crippling along with fluoxetine. Waiting for gynae appointment and have gone back on the pill to see if that would help regulate hormones but no difference as yet!

Really feel for all the fellow sufferers

I really do feel for you, the anxiety and mood swings are so hard to deal with. I am going on holiday next month abroad with my family.  I am looking forward to it but am also dreading it and am worrying about everything that can go wrong and having one of my bad weeks.  I hate feeling like this but can't stop it.  I just want to feel well and enjoy myself but can't remember what that feels like.  I think you just have to keep trying different things to see what works best for you.  There are some good forums on here with some good advice from others going through the same thing.  Hope things improve for you soon. smile

The nausea for me has also been a big problem, I also get it with the migraines as well. I am emetaphobic so feeling sick all the time has sent my anxiety through the roof. My GP has given me anti sickness tablets which I take with the migraines and when the nausea is particularly bad. They help sometimes but not always. Nothing helps with the fatigue, some days I sit at work fighting to keep my eyes open. I have read some good advice on other threads on this site which I am going to try. One of those being B6, not sure it will help but have nothing to lose by trying it. It's all a case of trial and error to see what works best for each of us as we are all different and although all seem to suffer with the same symptoms they vary in their severity. Here's hoping we all find something to at least ease our symptoms and make life a little easier. smile

Just found this forum.  The nausea, GI issues, dizziness, and aching legs are my biggest issues.  I'm relieved to know that I'm not alone.  Haven't had a period for 2 1/2 years now, not doing any type of HRT.  The hot flashes went away for awhile, but are back.  And lately I've had cramps and achy legs for a week when I would have normally had my period.   My energy levels change weekly, but never so bad that I can't function.  I just feel out of sorts when I'm having low energy and notice that I end up getting sick with a cold or something.  I try to be kind to myself when I'm feeling like this and really just do my best to take care of myself with extra rest if I can or by eating better.  Some days are just better than others though.

Just wanted to say that I've been suffering pain in my hip and now hot flushes and I've had no period for a few months and always had trouble with my hormones.

My back is really aching and I've been expriencing some feeling sick too.

The last 3 days I'een extremely ired and my head is hurting as is my neck.

I'm thinking that I may be perimenopausal?

Thank you for this discussion, I think I may go and get a blood test now, I'm 44.

Please do not bank on blood tests to tell you anything, all mine came back normal. But I know my body and all of your symptoms plus a few more apply to me. Trust yourself.

I agree. My blood tests were normal and I've had problems convincing any MD that my issues are related to peri menopause. I've had a ton of tests done and it really does appear to be hormonal fluctuations due to age

Agree with others, please do not rely on blood tests, have had several including FSH tests for hormones all came back normal. My symptoms started when I was 38, I am now 46 and my symptoms have gradually got worse. My GP told me I was to young for peri so I like everyone else have imagined I have all kinds of serious illness. After reading all these posts I am now starting to accept that my symptoms are all hormone related. It's hard to accept and some days I still imagine I have some awful disease. If your blood tests come back normal please don't accept that it isn't your hormones that are causing your problems as the chances are that they probably are.
