Menopause - hot sweats help!

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi - I have been suffering for about 2 years now with hot sweats and have had enough.  I have made an appointment with my GP to get something to help.  Can anyone give me advice/tell me their experience with :

1. HRT?

2. Herbal option?

3. Just let it take its course?

4. Any other suggestions?

any help would be greatly appreciated before I make a decision.

Thanks everyone.

Hi have had hot sweats since hysterectomy not fun to deal with I went natural way as Hrt made me feel really weird. Plus once you stop taking it you have to go through the change with all the symptoms anyway. Take B 6 but check on dose age in think its only 100 mg a day because you get it in your diet as well. I've just started it as well local herb shop very good for advice.

I use a spritzer from boots which cools you down straight away and I carry a Spanish fan it looks nice and really works when you flush. I also tell people because it puts you back in control if the situation and they don't stare at you in the middle if flushing.

Hi - thanks for this info - I decided not to go done the HRT route after speaking my GP yesterday and went to a great old guy who really knew his stuff at a health food store in the next village from me.  He told me to take Sage so I now take 4 tablets of Sage, 1 x B6, 1 x Peppermint Oil, 2 x Devil's Claw, 1 x Imodium and 1 x Sertraline - god I must rattle as I walk along - will keep you posted about the Sage.

    Hi

HRT helped me but having been on it for 12 years feel I should come off and that is proving difficult as I think your body gets use to it so unless I stay on it I am going to have to go through the hot sweats etc but now I've retired I think it gave me 12 good years where I could sleep cope with my job etc and now perhaps easier to go through menopause ?

But if you can put up with hot sweats etc then may be naturally is the best?I went on because I had additional problems of urine infections dry vagina etc and HRT helped me.

Everyone is different so you have to make your own mind up with advice from your doctor. Its hard !

Hi - I saw my GP yesterday and decided to continue taking B6 and also went to this amazing old guy at a health food store in the next village from me and he recommended Sage.  Each capsule contains 300mg and he told me to take 4 tablets a day which I did for the first time yesterday.  I don't know if it is psychological but I was better yesterday - I will keep you posted.

Hi best to try anything at all we are all different. I'm trying bathing in 10 drops of lavender oil and tea tree both antibacterial calming soothing for down below and good for sleep . I thought puberty was bad enough but this beats the lot

Best place I went to was a GUM clinic they were fantastic and you can chat with them they spent nearly two hours with me and I felt so much better.  We need more of these places that women who are menopausal can go to easily we just don't talk about it enough. So let's keep talking.

      Hi Alin

Sage is amazing for hot flushes, also magnesium, I stopped my magnesium as had a shuffle about with naturals, i took a calcium and magnesium mix, then changed to Natecal a Calcium and Vit D mix for my bones, thought nothing of it ... and boom these day flushes came came, i never had any for years, was having up to 20 a day... then i reaslised the magnesium had infact stopped the flushes, so went back to magnesium in effervescant form and the flushes are under control, but sage is suppose to be good too, was thi king if trying this myself 😀. good luck hun xxx jay

      Hi Liz

senstra is not for internal use, its external... i got mine from Biovea Uk website i get lots from them, vits etc..

SENSTRA® is a topical cream used to increase female sexual sensation, arousal, pleasure, and satisfaction when topically applied to the female genitalia.

Most women's challenges with arousal and sexual response are due to insufficient blood flow in the genital area. SENSTRA® will not only increase a woman's sensitivity, but it also stimulates natural vaginal lubrication; thus correcting one of the most significant issues hampering women's enjoyment of sexual intimacy.

SENSTRA® creates an almost instant warm and invigorating sensation. This stimulates clitoral sensitivity and delivers the active ingredients, which leads to improved sexual arousal and response.

Though designed for women, SENSTRA® creates a stimulating sensation for men, too!
