Hi. I too am on Sertraline for depression and the zoplicone for the insomnia but it has quite the opposite effect on me. They make me feel sick when I eat. So eating less perhaps a good thing hey? Lol. I started on 50mg of the Sertraline but they had little effect on my suicidal feelings and have now been on 100mg for 2 weeks. I am still not right but getting there. And take 1/2 sleeping pill which as you can see its nearly 2am and I am typing this so they aren't working. Perhaps yours will be better. Please let me know? But as for side effects Idon't look unless I feel bad then I ask chemist I find then I don't find what I may not have (if that makes sense)

But I am on 12 medications for several other things including the depression and insomnia.

Perhaps someone else may have more help but take care and let me know how you get on?

Hi Pene, Sorry I can't give you much info on most of the meds you are taking because I'm not too familiar with them. One thing I can tell you is that I was on Paxil for a month....felt nothing....they bumped it up to 60mg.

and felt nothing....then.........way on up to 90mg. Well.....I felt it......just had you said A ZOMBIE!!!!The sleeping pill they are giving you Zoplicone I think is some kind of derivative of Lunesta. As I remember it, it was real

salty and made me tired but still sat the night up. Ambien may be a little stronger but it's addictive.Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Hi Beverly thank you for your reply I am now on 150mgs of sertraline as I had a really bad bout of depression and felt suicidal again the 100mgs wasn't helping at all so the upped it to 150 and it really helped maybe you could be doing with another 50!I must say it has been brilliant for my o.c.d during the day has taking my checking down to once it was about 50!The thoughts at night plus the insomnia was really depressing me terrible negative thoughts about myself!Must say the added in mertazapine is working but here I am still awake! If I take it early I feel sick and woozy so have to come to bed but that's no use as I am awake with my thoughts in the early hours!I took it at half ten tonight and I'm still awake but I will suddenly mod off I just want a happy medium to be honest!! I wish the mertazapine made me feel less hungry!lol!Stick with the sertraline and try for another 50mgs I'm stable on that just now!thanks again!:-)

Hi Pat thanks for your reply I find the sertraline works at my 150mg dose for my depression and o.c.d but the negative thoughts at night are terrible total insomnia!Zoplicone I was a real zombie during the day its not a proper sleep you get it's a drugged one so my mood wasn't good at all really brought me down!Mertazapine is working but just don't know the best time to take as I said above to early and I'm woozy and need to come to bed thus awake with my negative thought's to late and as you see I'm still awake I could also eat a horse lol there is no filling of me just looking for anyone else who is experiencing the same thing!I have to be careful with my weight as I have arthritis aswell it's really about weighing up the pro's and con's as am on so many other drugs!thanks again!

Hi Penelope, just finished 2 months of mertazapine side affects weight gain, stomach upset, aching muscles . I use to take it as my head hit the pillow.

I now have my old tabs venlafaxine which work brilliant for me and Temazapam just before sleeping. Need diazapam to make transition from mertazapine back to venlefaxine due to withdrawal panics etc but feel like a cloud is lifting this morning.

    Ask docs about venlafaxine

Let me know how you get on.

Hi Barry. I took Venlafaxine for over 10 years and was completely back to my old self. However 2 years ago they stopped working and my GP tried various SSRIs none of which worked. Last April, in desperation, I asked to be go back on Venlafaxine. They worked until September just gone then stopped working again. My doctor prescribed 15 mg Mirtazapine which were fantastic. However, they stopped working and I have now been taking 30 mg for 5 weeks. They are not working and I was thinking of going back on Venlafaxine. if they worked for you why did your doctor change you to Mirtazapine? Did the Mirt. cure your depression?

Hi Patricia, I changed for something stronger due to loosing my precious German shepherd to illness which had my wife and I in tears everyday, so the doc prescribed Mirtazapine to make me sleep worse thing ever went up to 18 st , had muscle aches etc and they just kept me at a level down feeling.

Told docs about side affects and the reduced the dose from 30mg to 15mg disastrous withdrawal affects. Went to docs and am back on Venlafaxine since Tuesday and diazapam for withdrawal affects. Doc says the venlafaxine will take ten days to start working again .

When I'm feeling myself again I can take on the world.....at the moment suffering flashbacks ...bullying and terrible negative up bringing.

    How are you feeling.

Hi Barry. Not a good day. I too liked Venlafaxine but the last two times I've tried them they have only lasted a few months. It's strange because the Medics that if a drug works for you then it will always work. If I am no better when I get back from Spain I may try 45 mg of Mirtazapine and if that is no good I will try Venlafaxine again.

So sorry to hear about losing you dog. I know how you feel. We have lost several cats over the years. I always say I can't face replacing it but I always do.

Penelope the instructions with Mirtazapine is to take it just before you go to bed as it is supposed to make you very sleepy. I haven't found that.

Mirtazapine made me feel like I was waking with a hangover , gained weight, muscle aches, dihorrea , restlessness.......Venlafaxine works for me .......good luck.

It worked for me too. I was on 75 mg with no side effects. I was really disappointed when they stopped working. However I may give them another try if I don't feel better soon.
