mertazapine and sertraline

Hi can anyone help please have been taking sertraline for 6 months now to help with my depression and my obsessive compulsive disorder!My checking has reduced but I suffered terrible insomnia have been proscribed mertazapine to help with this but says on box take at night does anyone know what time as just now I am taking it at half nine but not falling asleep till three in the morning!Also are there any other side effects I should know about with of taking both?Have an increased appetite already which is not a good thing!Any help would be appreciated was being prescribed zoplicone for my insomnia but obviously that is not a long term drug the weight gain worries me and made me feel like a zombie!Any help would be really appreciated thank you:-)

    Pat it says on mine take before going to bed I lie awake with my thoughts them bang I fall asleep can be half three in the mornin which doesn't help if i'm going anywhere!lol it's a catch 22 if I take them early I feel woozy if I take them when i'm going to bed it's hours before I fall asleep think I will ask for the tablet Barry recommend!:-)

    Hi Penelope. some nights I too lie awake trying to get to sleep. I know I shouldn't but if we have been out and I have a couple of glasses of wine I go out like a light!! Venlafaxine is an excellent drug. I didn't have any side effects. Sleeping was no problem and I didn't have an increased appetite. If I don't feel better soon I am going to ask if I can go back on them. The Medics say that whatever the drug that works for you is that's the one that will always work but it wasn't true with me. The only thing that it could have been was that throughout the ten years I often came off them but always had to go back after a while. Then a friend of ours, who is a GP, asked me why I kept coming off them. He pointed out that people take pills for high BP, cholesterol etc. So I stayed on them and now I wonder if that was why they stopped working. Anyway if your not happy with the Mirtazapine I would recommend that you try Venlafaxine. Sunset17 who is on the forum said that cured her aunt and a friend of ours is on them.

    Thank you Pat will definitely ask cannot that pill I don't wanna pile the weight on I've beenheavy before and didn't like it!glad I had a wee drink last night and went out like a light but then that I can't be have Morgan's and coke every night!lol thank you to you and everyone else that has helped of means a lot!:-)

    Hi, need advice panic attacks so got bad and was prescribed 5mg 3 x a day diazapam but the the panic attacks and withdrawal symptoms from antidepressants got so bad I took 6 at intervals rather than 3. So I took 30mg in one day rather than 15mg ......is that bad bit now in sticking to 3 a day .

    Cheers are people on a lot more than this usually.
