Migraine or should I seek further advice?

For the last 3 months I have been experiencing mild headaches on the left side of my head, bumping into things (again left side) and smelling a burning type smell that I appear to be the only one smelling. Last week I woke up with lines and flashing lights in my left eye, poor vision, nausea and again a headache. Since then, I have had these headaches a number of times a day which brings dizziness and sickness, some points I feel I am about to pass out. I am constantly sleeping too, stayinh awake for longer than an hour is difficult and usually end up falling asleep, despite having a good night sleep. I have seen my GP, optician and consultant at my local hospital all saying these are classic migraine symptoms however, none of the medication work... should I ask for this to be taken further or accept this as a migraine? I am starting to worry as I do not feel any better.

Yes, without doubt you need further investigations, nag your GP if you need to as sometimes they will fob you off. As kate has said, you need an MRI in the first instance, this will give the neurologist much needed info on your brain to check all is ok.
I am sure all is ok, but still you need it checked. The fact that you feel so sleepy is an indication something is not right. So, its nag your GP time Hayley.
Good luck and best wishes

There may be something in the heat/cooling ducts, carpeting (if new and treated with a chemical). There are so many things that may contribute to the symptoms you, and others are having. Get together and compare notes with others and see if there is a connection somewhere. It's a mystery you may need to solve yourself. Be deligent in looking for the source.

i would definitely see a neurologist and ask for a MRI. You need to see the right specialist for help with diagnosing you for the right care. Keep seeking this help!! The sooner the better and the better you will feel to get your life back!
