migraines?? Other symptoms/side effects???

I've recently started to have burning sensations shooting through my body, it can be in several places but doesn't last for long. I wake up with numb hands, numb areas on my face including my tongue. I've also started to stutter or my words come out completely jibberish. My vision will go almost completely in my left eye and I do get a bad headache with it but it isn't throbbing or near my eyes, it's normally constant at the back side of my head. My neurologist said he thinks it's migraines without really listening to me symptoms and has ordered an MRI. So my question is does anyone else have all the other symptoms with their migraines? My symptoms last for weeks (apart from the temporary blindness, that lasts around an hour) I developed raynauds a couple of months after the burning a numbness started. Thanks in advance for any information.

    Hi Kate,

I have Chronic Migraine, it took nearly 6 years to get a diagnosis! I had MRI 2 nerves tests, spinal specialist, orthopedic specialist, physio and a number of blood tests before they came up with a diagnosis! That was 3 years ago

Since then not I'm on meds including topiramate and amitriptyline I not allowed caffeine or pain killers. My symptoms are similar to yours but all the time as I have a migraine going off in my head all the time and although it doesn't always cause me pain it does effect my nervous system and my cognitive function so I have the pins and needles all over the place, balance issues, focusing issues, speech problems and writing problem (always fun when I'm teaching!) Swallowing problems and sleep disturbance just to name a few! I also get daily headaches and full blown migraines at least 3 times a week. I find that getting hot increases some of my symptoms, dyhydration others and lack of sleep others! My whole life is a juggling act but it doesn't stop me I still work and I am single mum of a smelly 14 year old boy that is at the grunting stage of communication!!

I would see if you can figure out if you have any triggers to your symptoms as it's better to work with them then against them.

    Good luck x

Thanks baybee, your comment made me laugh about the smelly boy haha, I've got 3 smelly ones from 2 to 14 and also work full time so being a single mum we don't have time to be ill. The most annoying thing for me is the vision and the burning throughout my body. I had my letter off my neurologist and it barely contains anything I told him so think after the MRI I'm going to see a private neurologist even if it is for peace of mind that someone has listened to me. I already cut out caffeine apart from one mug a day when I get to work. I kinda feel if the caffeine was to blame it would of started sooner as I've always loved coffee and chocolate. I'm going to keep a diary anyway which includes food as I've already kept one with aches and pains since it started. I just hope they can figure it out soon and get me on the correct medication because paracetamol and ibruprohen don't do a thing for me x

Thing is if it is chronic migraine they will tell you to stop taking the painkillers as they actually make them worse and I have to say when I first stopped they did get better.

My big enemy is sleep if I don't get enough or it is broken I have really bad day! I never seem to catch up!

My sense of humour gets me through a lot of what I do, especially when I forget what I'm saying! My eyesight blurring is getting a bit more difficult and it can take ages to get an eye test done as I start to get hot and then can't see or remember what the letters are!! They switch the air conditioning right up when I'm in there and they are sat shivering and I'm all red faced!!

I've also started going to the gym as the meds have made me put on so much weight so when I get hot there alsorts happens I drop weights, my leg twitches, eyesight problems I swear the other girls think I do it just to get out of stuff!!

I tend to not take them anyway unless my vision goes then out of fear I take the codeine my gp gave me because I don't want another bad head but I only take that if I'm home and don't need to pick the kids up as they make me sleepy so I won't drive after taking them. I had an eye test done in October so didn't think there would be much point in me having another but I might consider having another if the optician thinks I should.

I get the twitches to they can be anywhere legs arms fingers. It's just all so frustrating isn't it x
