mild cold before surgery

Hi all,

Do you think you could still have surgery if you had a mild cold..I'm about to have a hysteroscopic mymectomy this fibroid and been told I will have a general anaestetic.

I don't have a cold as yet but I feel like I'm about to have one..my chest feels tight and my voice is a bit funny...I'm frantically drinking orange juice at the moment.

I've read that you could have my operation under local or regional anaestetic...If I did have a mild cold would the surgeon;s do that or will my operation be cancelled..I don't think I could wait any longer I've been sooooo depressed and stressed in the last 5 months.. besides I've already had 6 zoladex injections..I know I can't have anymore..

Any advice or help would be much appreciated

Tezi - you are still alive!!!!!! :D

Well done - it's great to have you back and now you can put it all behind you!! Fantastic.

Sorry you had a few problems but they've all been sorted so you can forget about them now ......

I didn't like to ask about the bowel specialist last week - i wondered if you had cancelled it. Please don't start worrying about a colonoscopy Tezi - just forget about it for a few weeks (I'm sure your problem IS piles and can easily be put right!) So please, promise me you will not start reading up about all sorts risks and problems - I will talk you through it nearer the time!!

Take care and take it gently for the next week or so.

    Hi Denise,

I had one fibroid right in the middle of my womb..It caused me unbearable periods and pain. I had a hysteroscopic myomectomy which involved removing the fibroid from the womb through the cervix.

Don't worry I was just as worried as you probally more, once you have a scan they will tell you what your options are and possible treatment.

Surgeon told me I should get my periods back in 3 month because I've been having monthly zoladex injections which stop your periods for a while before surgery.

How long have you had this problem hun?

    Hi Tezi

Don't worry it's all quite normal - you will have cramps and spotting for a while. And as for your privates being tender - well, if you saw what went on in the operating theatre, it's hardly surprising! There's a lot of pulling and tugging going on - I would never want a gynae op. under a local anaesthetic!!

Everything sounds right on schedule Tezi so you have nothing to worry about.

    Take care

    Katie xx smile

    hi all

sccan went fine ,woman a bit poo faced , they dont give much away when you talk to them ...unless either they are not that bothered just scanning you thats it ...or they really dont k now what they are looking for, but yes have got fibroids she didnt seem to think it was that WORRYING she prob said they are about 3cm but did not know how many !!!!! so will wait to see my gyno doc and see what the future has in toe, i actually feel bettter as i am taking qite a few supplements ie evening primrose ,a really good vitamin and some agnis cactus (not sure spelling) back on slimming world (that might shift dsome of the extra weight i have gained ,which is making me feel fat and bloated ) back doing my power walking , back on great walks with ted my staffy, as he has had bad legs too!!!!! so had to knock the walks right down to next to nothing so fingers crossed all good at mo ,had my smear back and that s all ok slo onwards and upwards from now till i see doc,ta for asking hope you are all well xxx
