Hi, I have been on mirtazapine 7.5 mg for 7.5 weeks. It is starting to have the opposite effect on me. Never what it was working great but now I’m having nightmares, insomnia, tremors, severe anxiety, and other issues. I’ve talked to three psychiatrist that told me just to stop taking it since it’s going. Axle. But after reading things online it appears I need to taper. Please help. I am non-functionable

Hi Kris.
I didn't want to read and run but just wanted to reach out.
I've been trying to stop mirtazapine and my doctor suggested a straight switch to another AD. I tried this but things didn't work out - to do with my own health issue rather than anything else. What I'm trying to say is that, if you want to switch ADs then it's perfectly possible to do so and your doctor should be able to advise.
If you want to taper off I'd certainly suggest cutting down rather than cutting out altogether and going cold turkey. If you have the 15mg tablet, maybe use a pill cutter to make 3.75mg, which is what I take.
I have read many scary posts on here where people suggest tapering much slower.
Keep in touch with your doctor and ask for their help to let you draw up a tapering plan and tell them you're uncomfortable about going 'cold turkey' - they know your particular circumstances best and will be able to come up with a plan.
Good luck. I hope things work out quickly for you

I was planning on using a scaled down version of this schedule:
