Mono need help

Posted , 34 users are following.

Hi so In June I woke up one morning feeling very weak. I thought I needed to eat something but when I ate breakfast I still felt weird. I ended up having my first panic attack. My entire summer was filled with ER visits for weakness, low energy, fatigue, dizziness, off balance feeling, and generally feeling unwell. It turns out I have mono (diagnosed a week ago). I don't know what to do. Just looking for others' stories and well and recovery process. It's my 3rd month and I just feel so helpless. ?? Thanks guys ! Blessing to all

    Hey Christie,

I wanted to post something and see how everyone is doing? How are you feeling these days? I have some big news, after getting more blood work done to figure out if there was any other cause for my fatigue besides mono, my doctors spotted that my TSH ( Thyroid Stimulating Horomone ) was super low, and all my thyroid levels were off. I Then got it tested again, and my TSH was super high. I then went to see an endocrinologist, as these thyroid issues can 100% make you fatigued similar to mono. Turns out I got Mono so bad back in May that it triggered an autoimmune response, and because I think thyroid problems run in my family, my immune system started messing up my thyroid, leaving me with Hashimotos Thyroiditis. I found out that I only really had mono for about a month, and this whole time I was feeling the effects of an over/under active thyroid. Pretty crazy, never thought I would end up with something like this, but I am on medicine to treat this and Im supposed to start feeling better soon. It has been an insane journey, and I really want to feel normal again, like all of you im sure.

      Hey Chase,

So sorry to hear you've had this terrible time, really hoping that the thyroid medication can help you feel more normal, I don't know much about it but do believe that they can keep these things well controlled with medication and really hoping that means you can start to feel like yourself again and live a normal life again!!

Take care and hang in there - thinking about you

Oh my goodness you have had a rotten time. I'm 47 and hv had it 3 months too...I can feel swollen glands in my groin and feel regularly nauseous often retching when I have done too much. Frustratingly this is working or home life. I had to go back to work as no pay after a month...finding I get v tired still although no more drip white face when drained. Just want to be back to health.

      Hi Jum,

So sorry to hear you've been having such a tough time with mono, it really is a horrible virus and I do sympathise having went through the same symptoms as you when I had it. If not already doing so, definitely worth considering taking vitamins and herbs, such as a good strong multi-vitamin per day, B complex for energy levels, high doses of Vitamin C (1000mg-3000mg per day), making sure getting enough Vitamin D and immune boosting herbs like siberian ginseng and echinicea.

Thinking of you and hang in there - things DO get better with this, I was the same as you after 3 months, it can still take a bit of time but there is full recovery ahead and the intensity lessens as time goes on, and eventually a turning point comes where you just start to feel like your old self again - remember don't panic if it still takes a bit of time though, because you WILL get better!

Hello everyone and hello to the new faces. Craig i hope you are feeling well and chase I'm glad they found the route cause of your fatigue. I hope everyone is doing well smile. This past month has been a roller coaster ride for me. As you all know when i got sick i developed anxiety. The medication helped  in a sense i went back to school, and was able to do more things. Not that it helped my mono, but it made my brain just not care about how i felt i just did what i was suppose to without any second thoughts. I decided to get off these pills because one, my anxiety came from me being sick and two i just like feeling like myself you know? unfortunately all my symptoms came back or should i say were "more apparent." I now have fatigue, dizziness, difficult sleeping and the regular crap. Well yea that's just an update on me, how are all of you doing ?

Hi Christie, I’m sorry to hear you are having a rough time but you are not alone! I’m now 7 months in and although I have the odd better day I’m still having dizziness, digestive problems, right side pains, and that vague poorly feeling that only someone who’s had this virus could know about. There is light at the end of the tunnel tho so a message to everyone.... although it doesn’t feel like it sometimes, you will get better x

      Hi Christy!

im currently in month 12, doing fairly ok, had an amazing three weeks then I went a bit tired again🙄🙄 I saw an endocrinologist on Friday and he reckons I'm doing well, but says another 6 months to a year before I'm back to normal . All I know is that this next year will be no way as bad as this first year!!!  Even when I'm not great now, I still manage to do quite a bit. He did say it would go which is nice to hear. It's just sooooo slow.

craig- I know you'll be reading this, I really hope your back is easing and less painful, and 2018  will be a bett year, I am so hoping!!!

      xx

It's good to hear from you, I have been wondering how you were doing as didn't see you post for a while. Was hoping maybe things had got a bit better, sorry to hear that this month has been a tough one. Remember all this are going to pass over, things won't be this way forever. You're young and have lots of good times ahead I do honestly believe that!! It's been a tough year for so many people, hang in there and remember to just take things day at a time.

Craig thank you soo much for the encouragement. I’m often sad because school and this is so hard. Besides from how I feel physically emotionally I just want to have fun and enjoy the last of my teen years. But I’m glad to hear it will be over one day. Thinking of you always ❤️

      Hi Christy,

It's always good to hear from you, I have still been thinking about you and praying and wondering how you are doing. That must be so hard dealing with the virus whilst being back at school, remember just to not put yourself under pressure, if work or whatever doesn't get done it's not the end of the world there are reasons and you need to look after your health first at the moment.

There most definitely WILL be an end to this Christy, and you are going to have lots of good healthy and happy times ahead when this is all over, and be a stronger person for the experience, even though it's hard to see that now. Thinking of you too and hang in there! One day at a time is the best way to take things, it's all any of us can do!

      Craig

P.S. God will heal you Christy, I trust and believe He will
