More pain recently!

Posted , 7 users are following.

my pain has gone through the roof over the last few weeks. It's everywhere, hands, wrists, shoulders, hips, feet, neck, lower back to name just a few! My hands are probably caused by a double crush the Rheumatoligst said ie nerves in neck and wrist are being crushed although we've changed it to squished, her idea, it doesn't sound so bad. Pain in my neck is from the damage there, lower back from the damage there, everything else from FM! Been referred for nerve conduction tests and to the pain clinic. I've been to the pain clinic before many years ago but there could be new things I haven't tried. I am just so sick of the pain, its relentless, nothing seems to ease it. I take so many pain tablets of various types I'm surprised anything gets through. I need to lose weight, I eat very little and it's low fat but I can't exercise, I walk my dog but don't get up much speed so that doesn't help and it's such an effort getting out there. I'm always so tired too, I'm struggling to stay awake now. I try to stay positive but today I'm positive I'm sick of all this pain!!!

moan over, thank you for listening

Oh poor you Shelagh, I have very similar pain pattern to you so I literally 'feel your pain'!  When I went to the pain clinic last week, they gave me a drawn figure of a person and a pen to mark whereabouts my pain is. I just drew a big circle round the figure. It does get you down sometimes, but I try to remember that there will be better days too. Gentle hugs and feel better soon. xx

Thank you Jeanne, I do try to remember there will be better days but this has gone on for weeks now, I've fallen back on my old pick me up (that's not the right phrase but can't think of a better one) there are thousands of people a lot worse than me. The Rheumatoligst kept asking if I was happy generally and I am, I couldn't understand why she kept asking, my husband thinks she was wondering if I was suicidal. Oh no, I've started moaning again!

hope you feel better soon too, gentle hugs back

      xx

    Hi Shelagh

Poor you, it all gets too much sometimes and we need to reach out to people who understand.  I feel for you, although I don't take meds, I am tryinh Ayruvedic herbal remedies only started them Feb 2015 and I can say my pains have reduced in my neck and shoulders and upper back, but hands and wrists and arms painful.  I am taking a day at a time.  As I am still trying this out I will report back fully once my treatments are over.  The Ayurvedic doctor told me at the start I won't be curing your fibromyalgia but balancing my body out and with slight changes to my diet and the herbal remedies......

Staying calm and positive and taking a day at a time is the best way forward.

    Gentle hugs wink x

    Hi S,

I found out I have  FM in Sept 2014 following a neck injury 12 months earlier. I go to the pain clinic for nerve block injections in the trigger points around my scalp, neck, shoulders and back area's. This allow's me to have 6-8 weeks with a little less pain in those area's, it does return but it does give some relief.

Maybe you could discuss this with your pain clinic or Dr.

    Regards

    Graham

O' poor you Shelagh, gentle hugs....is it a flare ? ....they can be soooo hard...try not t stress-easier said than done I know....lots of hot water bottles a soak bath of magnesium flakes might help too....re: your low fat eating...low fat makes you fat,..saturated fat it's just impossible to make you fat or put weight on should I say...I found out the hard way...it's also much much more healthier for you..especially us with autoimmune issues..I gave up all sugar-which is a killer and in everything..eat nothing at all that's  processed food like bread, pasta, rice ect...plenty of other ways to make bread, pasta and rice...just don't do any grains....amazing results...basically just eat all fat and whole foods now..unreal results ...have a lovely day Shelagh..be blessed..:-) xxx

Hi Shelagh, and others too; I really do feel that the changes of the weather/seasons could be a contributing factor....too many of us are starting to feel more pain in more areas, of late.  Those in the European countries, are going into your Summer months, and we here in Australia, are going into  our Winter.....Believe me, last November, when our Summer hit us (yep a little bit early), I was FLOORED...my muscles were screeming with the pain...hence upped the Amitritylline, and they helped me...at present, with our Winter, I find I'm going into the lethary stage....no energy (even taking all the supplements)...still have some pain, but Nothing like November.....do you all feel that this is why Shelagh, and others, are feeling soooo bad at present???   I do hope you can find something to help....and if something else is found to help, please let me know, for future reference/trial........sending you all one of the faces that I receive, and bring back my smile....rolleyes.....Bron

i noticed it a few years ago how the pain is differant depending on the weather .i v just brought a blue light box as they say that blue light is better than the ordinary sad lamp for lifting mood .

people often say you only need it in winter but i hardly go out these days and you dont get vit d definceny if your getting enough day light

so i use my light box when i get fatigued .i am hoping this one  will work quicker .razzrazz

Thank you all for your support, it means a lot, actually "a lot" doesn't cover it, you are all amazing!

I've had this awful condition for over twenty years and weather hasn't affected me but it changes so much it is possible! We have thick fog this morning and I feel even worse than yesterday. I will try everything you've suggested, thank you so much! Going to try to sleep, so tired, last painkillers 4am so I'll have more soon.

loads of love and gentle hugs to you all.

My goodness Shelagh; what/who have you been upsetting lately....I know things come in 3's...how about 6's and 7's for you???   Perhaps you just need to STOP, let others do the chores for a few days....I think you are Over tired, and with your painkillers, maybe just not thinking/seeing clearly..I know I do these things when I am not coping (when pain gets out of control)...do you think this is the case for you...you are lucky you didn't break your wrist (and already had enough pain in your wrists )  ..those things are heavy...please start Resting, let your pain control kick in, and then get some real sleep...I really feel you need it ... Is there anyone who can come in and help for awhile (even a few days)???     Bron

You are in my thoughts/concern, as you really sound as if you have hit a bad spot.....sleep, and sleep....get as much as your body tells you to, and then start slowly, and build up again very slowly....one day at a time (as each of us preach...but rarely practice).....wink with a gently

      hug....Bron

thats all iv been doing for weeks now sleeping its driving me mad

it used to be the pain that affected me the most

but now itsdefinatly the fatigue its so annoying falling asleep all the time

      even when doing things .

I think it goes round in a vicious circle, can't sleep long for the pain, pain is less tolerable because of lack of sleep! I really should be outside in the sun but haven't got the energy. Just got into trouble from daughter for going to sleep after a head injury. Made me laugh because it was always me saying it to them.

hope you are having a good day Bron and Ti's and everyone else.

Hi Tiswas and Shelagh;  I really am thinking of you both....you both sound as if you are at the bottom....and I know what it feels like too: and I still say, that if that's how bad you two are, needing your sleep....then do whatever it takes to get it.    I always find that if I even have to go to a doc's appt, which takes me a good hour+, I am always knackered (an Aussie expression for Wiped out), for at least a couple of days....the Energy Just Isn't There.    I have to rely on my meds to get that sleep (Endep/amitriptyptilline) works on both the pain, and assists the sleep....and yes, in the mornings it does take me a couple of hours to get myself going again.  I am luckier than others now, as I have given up all work, and my children are all grown up (although the days that I have grand-children over, and do the school runs,  knocks me back)...but without the committments that you others have each day.As for what you guys say re increased symptoms after a Traumatic Episode, I can relate to that too.....mine all started after nursing my Dad with Terminal Cancer, but didn't progress much until other issues within family, and then after having  a major op on my L) arm in 2010, havn't been able to get back on top since....our bodies just Don't like Trauma of any kind.....Please try to look out for yourselves as best as possible, and will await to see how you two go......Bron
