    Hi Evonne

You are understandably nervous and apprehensive. I can't offer you too many words of experience re cysts, as I'm only just at the early investigative stage of my cyst type symptoms. However, I will say, try to keep your thoughts positive and optimistic (easy to say, I know) and trust you are in good, safe hands and receiving great care. Do you have a good support network in family and friends? Anyone going with you for the MRI app? I send you best wishes and plenty positive energy. Let us know how you get on x

      Hi Evonne

That's great you have a wonderful family and support network. Really good news your bloods came back all fine, especially your CA125. See - there's 3 positives already 😊 and yes, this forum is brilliant for support, understanding and advice. I'm sure the inflammation marker will turn out to be okay. My bloods and CA125 also came back normal/good. I have my first app with a gynaecologist this Friday. Looking forward to getting some answers and reassurance. Do let us know how you get on. Best wishes to you x

    mri dont hurt.

    its quite an adventure.

    just a bit noisy.

your head wont be inside the tunnel as they're doing your tummy.

if you look up you'll see instructions when to hold your breath and keep very still.

if you have sterilizatin clips or any metal in your body tell the t

    echnician.

A dermoid cyst is benign. But they can get big over a long time and heavy and twist so if it is any size at all then good to have it removed. What operation you have should be determined by a number of things like:

    your age

if you still want to have children in the future

    diagnosis certainty

    your choice.

other risks- what sort of cancer do you have in the family...

MRIs are fine just rather noisy like being inside a washing machine!

      Hi gpgp

When i had my scan over 1month ago they says it was about 7cm but not sure how big cyst grow like

Think it must be putting alot of preasure on my bladder as at toulet contant plus wakeup during the nite every hour which is nitemare

I'm 43 years old so therefore wont be having anymore children plus i am a grandma now which keeps me busy x love

My mum had ovarian cancer x got secondary bowel she died at 43 so young sad think this is how consultant just wants to do hysterctomy

My dad just had MRI x says the sm noisey

So sorry to hear about your mum. There is an increased risk of getting ovarian cancer when your mother or sister has had it, so you may have more peace of mind by having the operation.

I have never understood why gynaecologists like to take the whole uterus instead of just the ovaries and cysts.

Hi evonne- I had an ultrasound on Dec 10th which showed 2 cysts( totally unexpected- no symptoms)  one on each ovary-5cm and 8cm. I had a hysterectomy on Jan 27th and am feeling fine, recovery has gone very well and I'm 74. It was 7 weeks from that 1st Us scan to the op. I was so well looked after and my Ca125 was 27 (normal is 35) and what they removed was all benign. Worry no more - you are in safe hands. Good luck x

    Hi

I am having an MRI on Thursday for the same reason ... large complex cyst. I think they just want to rule anything nasty out. Apparently the surgery is quite different if they have any concerns or if they think it is very straight forward. Perhaps we should compare 'after' stories!

      Hi Evonne,

I had mine today ... not the nicest experience! I was in the room for nearly 2 hours and hadnt expected the tunnel to be quite as tight as it was. But I am glad it is done and they were very thorough. They gave me a muscle relaxant to start and then did some with contrast at the end. It was very uncomfortable with the weight lying across my tummy right on top of the cyst! I go back to the consultant on Monday to hopefully find out what will happen next. I hope your back feels better quickly! x
