Multiple fibroids, route I have taken and very happy 😊

Hello ladies, you are all so strong, I have read your stories and we are all heroes for putting up with the nasty fibroids.

This post is about the route I have taken when I was faced with no options that I was happy with, and I hope will help some of you as an alternative.

18 months ago, I was diagnosed with multiple fibroids, biggest one at the time 4,5m. The consultant NHS London, dismissed me with cerazette only. April this year I saw another consultant as the fibroids has grown , 7cm and I was put on a waiting list for myomectomy or hysterectomy. The doctor said they can't make a decision about the exact procedure until the operation. I am 35 and no kids so I have said no way to hysterectomy, but they didn't gave me other options.

I have searched private hospital in Europe as in London is very expensive and I work as Receptionist. I found a fertility and gynaecology hospital in Romania, Wellborn Hospital  private with affordable prices starting from 1000 pounds. I have contacted the doctor very helpful and friendly he has his own website and speaks French and English, sent him my records and he told me that I am suitable for a laparoscopic myomectomy and m fertility won't be affected.

He arranged all for me based on my availability and in less than a months I have had my operation done. 18 days today and I have had slightly no pain, not started bleeding yet, the scar is small and healing very well.

They treat endometriosis, fibroids, cyst, organ prolapse. So anyone of you who has fibroids and want kids like I do, please don't delay your treatment. We all know, the more you delay the less chances you have. And most important seek a 2nd opinion, even if is just a consultation with private doctor.

Please feel free to message me directly and I will tell you more info, and the hospital and doctor contact detail as here won't be published.

all the best for all the strong ladies here, don't gave up.

    Hello Forum Friends,

To Camelia's point I think we should not only share our stories but also share where we  get good treatment, from good doctors, with good bedside manners. I live in NY and I have been struggling with fibroids for more than ten years. I can tell you every doctor that I have see has recommended medication as a first option and  a hysterectomy as a second option. As  if any of the medications actually work at all! I will never agree to that.If it does work most of them are short term, the side effects are horrible and the fibroids grow back. It's a complete farce!  So ladies please share your good doctors and surgeons us so that we can in turn forward them to those who suffer and come after us.

I have had mine for quite a while and because of many of the bad experiences I have had with doctors I have never wanted to have the surgery. Now they are really big and 14cm at least and I have about six of them. But I have decided to have my surgery at the International Modern Hospital. They specialise in laparoscopic surgery and have a very good track record. All of their surgeries are done laparoscopically not just fibroids, with the exception of all pediatric surgeries and I think two others. But everything from cancer to to cardiac and anything in between.  So after lots of research and back and forth with the doctors I have decided to take my fibroids to Dubai. Waiting to hear back from the doctor.

Will keep you heroic ladies posted. Good luck all.

Hi there, I'm new to the forum, and in a nut shell I am having similar issues to everyone on here ! it took me 6 months of pain and issues to get referred for an ultrasound (dec 16) then to a specialist, (march 17) and told me the reasoning was fibroids but it wasn't straightforward op as there was a larger and smaller one and put on esmeya - but by the May 17, they told me it had grew that quickly, - 7cm - 11 cm, and the MRI had shown that it wasn't in line with a fibroid they were worried it was cancer. I was put on prostap in the May to see if it would shrink, and said I would need more mris, to see it is consistency and size changed. obviously they had already mentioned hysterectomy etc, and this I was mortified to hear, as at 32 I have no kids, aways assumed that I would but similarily I also wasn't in a massive rush. the specialist kept nudging me toward trying for a baby, and said this would resolve the matter but I have also heard of complications with fibroids ? even though id probably like a child ,it seemed like a drastic solution to the problem ? when I was told after 2 more MRIs that they were happy it wasn't cancerous about 5/6 month later, as it had responded so the options were an operation, then the risks such as losing he womb, and the effect of scarring, then also the scars - or try for a baby for the sake of getting rid of it, and risk miscarriage or premature birth etc. I have since been passed to 2 further specialists, who I hoped would give me percentages to weigh it up etc, but they just said it was my choice. my partner is getting tested to rule him out, my fertility isok even though I will have prostap in my system (had my 12th injection last month) but I'm still unsure what to do ? has anyone risked the surgery and then sucessfully fell pregnant ? Is 8cm doable via keyhole ? has anyone had a bad time in surgery ? or a healthy pregnancy with one this size ? they also seem to have stopped mentioning the 2nd fibroid which is the reason why I couldn't get the op last year. I have a lot of concerned friend and family offering advice but this forum seems like its up to date and has a lot of similar stories which is why I'm giving this a go now. thanks,

Hi... I had a hysteroscopic myomectomy in March and I am now 9 weeks pregnant. Obviously I have a long way to go but feeling OK for now apart from morning sickness etc! I still have part of a fibroid inside me. When I first received injections to shrink my fibroid, I was like you and it caused it to grow rapidly instead. It shot up from 7cm to 12cm in a matter of days. Apparently caused by surge in hormones. But the good news is... I stuck with the injections and they shrunk it significantly to the point where I could have it removed. I know this doesn't work for everyone but... I thought I would share a positive story for you. ??

Ah that’s amazing news congratulations. Sorry I don’t think I was that clear in my post - so it grew significantly to 11cm , 3 month after they first monitored it , that’s when I started meds, 4 month of  esmeya didn’t touch it but after my 12 month of Injections which finished last month it’s back at 8cm. So still slightly risky in the size etc. And I need to decide what to do just before it grows again rolleyes But thank you so much for your response , that’s good to hear that you’ve fell soon after - and good luck x

Hello, yes the 8cm can be removed laparoscopic. I don’t know about pregnancy though.
