mum hip replacement help please

My 83 year old mum had fall today, she has brittle bones disease, and has broken her hip. In alot of pain but in hospital on morphine, with hip replacement surgery arranged for tomoz. Am totally beside myself, would appreciate any advice or help from people that have been through this. Cant stop crying but know I have to be strong for my mum. Any advise appreciated x

    They will take things a bit more slowly with your Mum being the age she is, but they will look after her and encourage her to get out of bed and try walking for a bit with their support as she needs to get mobile again to get the hip working.  She will probably have to stay a bit longer in hospital than someone who is younger, it depends on our mobility before the operation as well.  Stay strong  and try to relax a bit yourself, so that you can present a calm and reassuring front when you see your Mum.  She will need some encouragement.  Hope you and your Mum feel much better soon.

    So sorry about your mom's accident. My mom fell some years back at age 87 she also had to have hip replacement surgery. Like you I was worried sick but mom came through the surgery very well although her age made the recovery time tale longer. Will keep you ,your 'm m and family in my prayers for a good outcome and recovery.
