muscle reattachment of the scapula

Hi Guys, I had reattchment surgery 11 months ago and I am still struggling with my right shoulder. Every movement of my arm makes my shoulder click which is very painful and annoying. I also don't have my full power in my right arm. I've had numerous mri scans and ultrasounds but all come back clear. I am now starting to have problems with my left shoulder as I am only able to sleep on my left side. Has anyone had a similar problem? The pain in my right shoulder started 2 and a half years ago after I was in a car accident.

    Hi Andrew

The clicking is normally either a ligament flicking over a bit of bone and a bit of the larbum being caught in the joint due to poor muscle control.

If you haven't yet regained full cotnrol fo the rotator cuff (control being a whole different kettle of fish to msucle strength) then the ball isn't sitting and moving nicely in the socket.

The shoulder joint is inherently unstable joint (so that we can have a huge range of motion) so we rely a lot on the muscles around it to maintain the ball correctly in the socket.

      Hi there,

Yeah, even I have the same problem. There's a big clicking sound on my shoulder and soon after it loosens up. I am 4 months post of Rotator cuff repaired and struggling to raise my hand above 90 degree. In fact, I was doing okay until I fell a slip in bathroom. After that, everything went back down. I did MRI and X-ray but nothing showed up. Saw another Surgeon and he thight I have a frozen shoulder got advised to have an injection which I had today. So, hoping it will help. I am so frustrated !!!

      Hi Shaun,

The strange thing with my problem is that nothing is showing up on any of the tests that I have had done. I seen a different shoulder specialist yesterday and he is also puzzled as to why my shoulder makes such a loud noise. It seems to be getting worse with every movement of my arm.
