Muscle spasms in throat

Hi all! I've been on sertraline for 6 months now. I've seen a little improvement but I am plagued everyday with muscle spasms in the front of my neck. It feels like someone has grabbed the front of my throat. It's very distressing as I feel like I can't breathe properly or swallow (I can). It can last for hours. Has anyone else experienced this and if so have you any tips on how to get rid of it? Many thanks.

    Hi,

Here's a simple exercise that should take your mind off the throat spasms or difficulty swallowing feeling. Grab a biscuit, start chewing it, keep chewing it, now remember I said keep chewing it, I didn't say chew and swallow, I wouldn't mind betting the amount of biscuit you put in your mouth has automatically disappeared after 30 or so seconds ?

Have you discussed this feeling with the pharmaceutical company that makes or distributes the medication you are on ? if it's listed on their side effects list they should tell you as they don't list the full side effects on the consumer product information sheet, they recommend you speak to your doctor, well you have done that and as you know they have told you it's anxiety related without bothering to look up the drugs full side effects list.
